I need lines plan of a bulk carrier

Hi, i am a student at university of Athens. The assigned project is a bulk carrier with the following particulars: LBP=227 m , D=20.5 m , B=33.4 m , Cb=0.873 and DWT=85900 t.

We are supposed to create the lines plan in Aveva, but i haven't any original to work with. Can anyone help me send the lines plan of a similar ship to continue the project?

Check out Ship Design and Construction (SD&C) by SNAME. Lots to copy from in there. Read it and you may learn why bulker lines are the way they are.

 

Would it be possible to start off in the traditional fashion working by hand drawing with a sectional area curve and a midship section and then later transferring it to your CAD program?
I had to google Aveva - it does look very impressive.

It is a possible thing to do, if you can direct me with the process. I only have the midship plan and stability booklet of my parent ship. How do i proceed to mine particulars?

 

To start with "a sectional area curve" (I guess that's the curve of the frame areas along the length of the ship) the first thing you'll need is to know the shapes of the frames.
Perhaps it is preferable to start, as many people do, by copying the shapes of a similar (not the same) ship and applying a change of scale to it (an affine transformation would be preferable)

 

Where can I find a similar shape though? You mean the body plan?

It is better to start from scratch since the assignment is as much about learning the tool as it is the shape and structure of the ship. Your grade may not reflect the amount of learning you accomplished, but you will gain valuable insight. College is the place to make basic mistakes, not at your first job.
