hi all, I am planning to marinize a kubota 1505 for a mini trawler project.

I found a source for the water cooled exhaust manifold. I think I can work out everything else, except the transmission.

Could anyone who has marinized a kubota please help with what transmissions are compatible?

    thanks!

What reduction ratio do you need?

Hi MiniTrawler, I want to marinize the same engine. Did you find compatible components for this engine?
    Thank you

Beta Marine has the manifold, trans, everything but obviously gonna pay thousands. Maybe like $1500+ for the manifold and who knows on the transmission. For my project, I might do a dry stack out the roof since this will be a faux tugboat anyway. Looking for used gear seems to be quite difficult. Also, I havent even found an engine. The retail price for a used take out kubota diesel seems to start at 2000 and private sale might be 1000.

I'm also looking to go to a 4 cylinder for smoothness and some power headroom and to cruise at a low RPM which will be quieter.

NO progress on procuring anything as yet though!

A PRM 150 hydraulic gearbox would work nicely on that engine.

Unless you already have all the parts, it will be cheaper to buy a used engine. Are you set on a Kubota or other brands would work?

The transmission only has to fulfill two parameters, be rated for the engine hp, and offer the desired reduction ratio.
Fitting the trans to the engine is done via the bellhousing and is a matter of matching the engine bolting pattern to the trans one. For an industrial engine lioe the Kubota this is mainly a matter of SAE adaptors. For more exotic engines you fabricate two plates and weld a shroud in between.
Matching the trans input shaft is done via a flywheel connector.
There are places that have all this figured out, one just has to ask. For the V1505 for examle here:
