    I belive this is polite warning, since Bayliner 2270 and entire series was prone to be sensitive on latteral wind .
    Taken in to the consideration, but, my aquatory is relatively quite, as long as boat is used for recreation (meaning sailing from wish not from necessity) .
    Otherwise... rules are clear and well known .

    Zoran, I would suggest to think outside the box: you can buy a boat in EU and do not import it officially to Serbia. At least - you can bring it home, but officially the boat can be still registerred in the country you bought it. I have no idea, how strict the laws are in your country for just bringing the boat home with EU papers, but I am pretty sure that the model of ownership can be "I am fixing the boat in Serbia for a customer in EU". You already told, that the aim is for Croatian coast, which is in EU, so technically (by documents) you can even leave the boat in Croatia for all year long anyway.

    Thank you for the idea. Oh, yes, this model is , fractionally, works. Lot of boats here are registered in Delaware . But, since government look on recreational boating as a pure luxury, they also have some taxes . And, if you are not registered locally, you need to pay some seasonal/annual fees , there are limitation in crew.... etc.
    But, this is just administration. Still, there is a problem to find proper boat , even abroad. In some days, I was able to try 2-3 boats in a day . Just driving in 100km circle . All of them are "beautiful and regularly serviced" - and than, when you see it- cracks here and there, bad transom, suspicious engine .... Now, imagine, you find boat in UK, or France, or Finland . And make journey , to find that offer is scam .
    I lost a couple of years, looking for the right boat (within limited budget) and now I am considering to build it .At least, in such case, everything is new, there is no hidden deformations, and time used ( I am aware - a LOT of rime) is used proactive, at least! Since- searching for a boat from a chair, even buzzing around and testing some "not so bad" examples, is far more frustrating ( since time is running and there is no progress) than working on own boat, with some progress .
    Of course, there is always option, to "share " workload with some pro's . There is a couple fine shops making Al- and steel boats. Not for free, but, half-year amateur work they can "zip" in week or two .
    Furniture and woodwork can be also made by som (enthuisiastic) carpenter. The rest, system and completion is -pure pleasure !

    Zoran, Delaware is USA, and the boats from USA have huge taxes even for importing to EU. Transportation also will cost an arm and a leg to bring to Europe. When I suggested to think outside the box - lets say that outside Serbia box, but inside EU :)

    Yes, finding a boat is tiresome, but it is possible. I would suggest to go for some local classifieds in some country of your prefference. My friends bought some boats from Sweden, which is not that far away, in your case - boat from Germany, Croatia or Italy is a possibility. 100km drive to see a boat is not much. I am not sure if the building from scratch is better. A boat in average condition has one advantage vs decision to build a boat: you can already use it as boat of average condition!!!

    Btw that boat my friend bought recently is ~7,5m sail yacht with keel. GRP construction, I think no wood at all, ~4k EUR with tranportation from Sweden or (Finland?). IMHO this is very very affordable.
    If you are interrested I can ask exact model of that sailboat.

    Delaware, As far as I know, as well as some other "countries" , allow registration without both, boat presence and owner residence.
    You are right, second -hand is always straight -forward solution, there are also a lot of "seat and ride" boats. But, honestly, I spent more that 5 years looking for right boat.
    And, deeply frankly, I am not easy in decision making (my bad !) .

    Asuming you have your own place to build and some basic tools, the rest is not so complicated. Choose a design you like, contact the desiger and tell him for you real wood is way cheaper then ply and you are willing to pay a surcharge for cold molded or strip planked scantlings in spruce. Go to the biggest lumberyard you can find, or a sawyer, tell them you want kiln dried spruce/fir or pine, tight grained and clear of knots. 50mm plain sawn is fine, super long lenghts not really important, take a few bottles of raki and beer to tip the workers in the yard so they select the good stuff for you, add some construction grade for the molds. Take the wood to a carpenters shop, pay to have it milled to spec on their big machines. I estimate one cubic meter of sawn to order wood to cost you around 1000€. Buy a whole barrel of epoxy resin and hardener, maybe ~4000€ delivered to your door. Screws, sandpaper, fiberglass, paint, etc. another 1000€. Then you have engine, electrics, hardware, etc., wich will depend on your ability to organize and make stuff. A finished price of 10-15000€ is possible if you are frugal, 20 000 if not. Construction time is relative to your abilities, location (heated build space) and willingness to pay for outside work. For example CNC cut molds and interiors drastically reduce building time, but at a cost.

    The decision build or buy is pretty simple, it depends if you believe you can find something suitable on the sh market that ends up under 15 or 20 000€ ready to sail.

    Thank you for details. my math is similar, but, I still look rather on plywood . Actual, even with very high price, when you bulid hull, you are creating a form, and form is , theoretically, express in square meter/feet. And ply is send , right in that units ! While aluminum or steel, are sold per kg/lbs . And both are heavier than ply! I use some material sheets published by designers, and make some comparison tables- even steel is not so cheap ! not due to price itself, but weight .
    But, it seems that I shift this topic a little bit off! let's gat back to track .
    We are looking for - design: semi-displacement hull, deep enough to provide (close to) standing headroom under the coach roof . Bayliner did it, HArdy did it. Can't undestrand that no one desigenr try teh same or similar ? even some modern center console boats achieve that .

    interesting.
    Also, today I discover very interesting Ocracoke 24 and 256 by B&B . Looking on some drawings of console/ head assembly , as well some pictures, this is something promising. Looking on weight and stern shape, it seems that such boat can be driven ( safe and comfortable- but slow) with moderate power, and of course, to "go nuts " with some stable on stern !
    Correct me if I am wrong .
