26 foot motorsailer x 10 foot beam x 4 foot draft with twin keel, cutter rigged 550 sq ft. Headroom in the forward cabin is 6'2". Aft cabin headroom is around 4'.

Comments please! Make sure you all destroy the idea so that I don't actually go about building this boat!!!

It is possible to see the 3D model using this link.

Old timer who passed in 19' who built the molds for most of the best fishing boats on the west coast told me when I was young. "Build a new design kicking and screaming all the way, make darn sure someone else hasn't already made it." His point being only make something not readily available on the market or easily adaptable. The effort and time to bring about a new idea is far more effort than most realize.

Having recently built a one off design off of a an established design... the hrs spent sanding better equate to something really new and different.

If the idea really is specific or original enough... hey it's only 26 feet. Go for it.

I have not found anything else quite similar on the market! This is the reason for this design... Now maybe the reason I have not found anything else similar might be because the design is not so good!

The only thing that tick some boxes for my needs but not quite all of them is Paul Gartside 29 ft motorsailer.

My own design! This is the reason why I afraid might be good, might be bad...

But I really like the look of it!

Find a proven design that meets your wishes unless you are a multi-millionaire.

Too much sail, not much keel, poke your eye out with the bowsprit...but it does have potential! ;)

Re your poll, you did not give an option of 'Definitely not' to go along with 'maybe not'

What type of construction are you proposing - eg round bilge or multi-chine, fibreglass, wood, even steel?

You mention (only) 4' of headroom in the 'aft cabin' - do you mean the wheelhouse? If so, that is not very much......

I think that Paul Gartside's motorsailer would be a much better bet.
Or scroll down to the Hart 27 on Paul Fisher's page -

If you can afford to blow a hundred grand; it usually means you have more than 100 grand in hand. Ask a guy who built a prototype.

Sorry if I was not clear, the forward cabin is 6'2", the pilothouse is also 6' 2", the aft cabin is actually 4' 5" after measuring.

Construction will be hard chine plywood epoxy.
