This chart was made in 2018. Each year more and more people become concerned, including in the US. What you call "real people,, you know, those who actually have to work for a living in order to provide for themselves and their families" will tend to be those most hurt by climate change. Rich people can buy their way out of purgatory. Not so easy for the poor of the world to escape unscathed. You should be grateful for those "educated idiots" and those who are "clueless about which end of a screwdriver to hold" that are raising a warning before the unmanageably serious problems hit.

Sixty years of climate change warnings: the signs that were missed (and ignored)
    • Henry Kissinger addressed the UN warning of “the possibility of climatic changes in the monsoon belt and perhaps throughout the world”
    • In August 1974, the CIA produced a study on “climatological research saying “The climate change began in 1960 but no one, including the climatologists, recognised it.”
    • The early 1970s saw reports of droughts, crop failures and floods from Burma, Pakistan, North Korea, Costa Rica, Honduras, Japan, Manila, Ecuador, USSR, China, India and the US.
    • In 1976 Stephen Schneider wrote a book, The Genesis Strategy, because he felt it was important to impart the gravity of climate change and catch people’s attention.
    • In 1977 the head of the UK Met Office gave a public talk saying we might have 1C warming, which he thought was “significant”, in the next 50-100 years
    • In 1978 a US Environmental Protection Agency report mentioned the “greenhouse effect”, noting that fossil fuels could have significant and damaging impacts on the atmosphere in the next few decades
    • In 1979 a group of elite scientists concluded that the Earth would warm by about 3C in the next century, plus or minus 50%
    • In 1978 scientists leading Exxon’s carbon dioxide research, wrote that Exxon “must develop a credible scientific team” one that can critically evaluate science that comes in on the topic
    • In 1982 a global warming conference financed by Exxon was told that “Few people doubt that the world has entered an energy transition, away from dependence upon fossil fuels and toward some mix of renewable resources that will not pose problems of CO2 accumulation.”
    • In 1980 the National Academy of Sciences set up a new Carbon Dioxide Assessment Committee
    • By the 1980s major oil companies established a number of legitimate-sounding research groups: Global Climate Coalition; the Information Council on the Environment,; the Cooler Heads Coalition; the Global Climate Information Project
And so the story of missed opportunity continues...

Why would anyone ever want to follow/emulate/believe in, a leftist.
Taken as a whole they are the most unhappy people on the planet. The glass is always half empty for them.
They have higher rates of divorce, lower rates of job satisfaction, higher rates of being in "therapy", higher rates of coming from broken homes, higher rates of hypertension and depression,, and higher rates of criminal involvement.
It's always a "cause" for them,, an agenda.
Down near the base level it's a narcissistic existence, "Things would be better if people would do what I feel needs to be done", or "Why does anybody need a big truck",, "They should be like me, and drive an electric vehicle to help the Earth".
Everything is always a crisis for them, and they run from one to another, always seeking something or someone to blame for the perceived ills/problems.
    Another Winston Churchill quote;
"When you're young and being educated, if you don't become a liberal you have no heart,, when you're older and, (supposedly,) wiser, if you don't become a conservative you have no brains".

    Like very much! :D
Experience is the best teacher. Reading a book will never make you an exper in anything except in study of that bookt. I like books, but they can't substitute for experience.

You seem to have as loose an affiliation with truth and reality as a certain recent president. Do you really expect me to take you seriously? In the future you might try providing references for all your assertions. Then maybe others who have a different point of view might take you seriously.

√−1, don't get me confused with a Republican. I think of myself as a political Libertarian, a fiscal conservative, a social liberal, an emotional independent and a cognitive anomaly.

I have been married to my wife since I was 21, 36 years ago. I don't see that coming to an end, ever.

Love it! Would make a great signature.

And which number is your current wife?
    Before, by almost 3 decades.

My wife is very long-suffering. She lets me hang out with the likes of you folks! <laugh>

Climate change could increase costs of reproduction in plants, study finds
    • The term "costs of reproduction" refers to the idea that living organisms that invest their energy in current reproduction have less available to invest in future needs, such as survival, growth and reproduction
    • When resources are plentiful, these costs may be negligible or difficult to detect
    • To simulate climate change, the researchers experimentally manipulated snow in alpine gardens
    • At the lowest elevation sites, which are naturally warmer and drier, they found pronounced costs of reproduction under both the control and early snow removal treatments
    • Surprisingly, at higher elevations, the pattern was reversed: plants in snow removal plots had lower costs of reproduction relative to those in control plots
The paper was published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B

My current wife is the only one that matters, the only one that counts, the only one worth having. The first two wives, married seven years, and twelve years, were temporary by their own choosing. Lifetime commitment was beyond their feeble woman lib capabilities. Gone to sea eight months or more each year, my return upset their household routines not designed to include me. They preferred I stay gone, independence with my monthly check. Haha! Is that independence? They wanted a divorce, I didn't but I had no logical option but to give them one. Good riddance. Neither ever remarried. Terrible moms too. I'm lucky to have my Julie.

    Yob,
One of the things I admire the most about you is your choice of avatar pictures. I think it says enough. Beautiful.

Glacial lake formation due to climate change in Switzerland
    • Due to climate change, the glaciers of the Alps are melting
    • When the ice retreat they often leave behind depressions and natural dams that can fill with meltwater, forming new glacial lakes
    • Since the end of the Little Ice Age around 1850, almost 1,200 new lakes have been added to the Swiss Alps
    • The rate of formation is accelerating, with 180 having been added in the last decade alone
    • On average, 18 new lakes appeared each year and the water surface increased by more than 150'000 square metres annually
    • However, about a quarter of the new lakes have also shrunk or even disappeared altogether

Your straw man arguments climate is changing doesn't support humans cause it as you insist it does and misses the point. THAT humans are responsible is the entire issue. Do humans cause climate change and can humans halt it? No,and hell NO!

What is the defense of this assertion humans neither cause nor can halt climate change? The long history of climate change over long ages. It's always changed since the world began.

Your sides real agenda is political power over everyone and because everybody uses carbon you pick on that. World domination has been their, your sides, agenda since Marxism began. Hell No! You won't get away with it! Not in the USA!

You think you are winning bit by bit, but all you are really doing is tipping your hand, showing your true colors, and stirring up a hornets nest!

Remember the Japanese admiral's concern after attacking Pearl Harbor. He feared he had awakened a sleeping giant! Proved prophetic!
