Identify my 1950s? Cedar Strip boat

Hi

Looking for some help identifying my old boat.

I will be restoring and modifying soon and want to know a bit more about it.

I plan to add a motor and controls from the era as well as a windshield.

Any thoughts or questions please comment.

I do not know what make / build your boat is, but she does look very fine.

Nice boat, don't "modify" it until you know more about it.
The boat registry (Transport Canada) may have the previous owner on file via the NS number on the bow.

 

For sure. The modifications I'm planning will be to restore it closer to original. Likely windshield and different floor and benches etc.

I am in Nova Scotia. I believe I may have a line on a Johnson outboard from 1957 coming from Ontario, but am open to tracking down parts anywhere. I'm at Vancouver Island every 2 weeks so hopefully I can eventually figure out what this boat is and find some pieces of the puzzle and bring her back a bit. Even if it involves pieces from coast to coast!

 

That's quite the commute. Long haul trucker? I drove from Halifax to Vancouver in '93. Tiring.

 

Not a trucker! But I have driven coast to coast return a few times over the years. I fly island to island now.

 

If the boat were in BC I would say it looks a lot like a Norseman. My dad had a smaller Norseman in the 60's, but they all had the same look especially the tumblehome on the transom. They were very popular in the Pacific Northwest in the 50's and 60's
