I guess automotive wrap with some motive could work too if surface is smooth enough.

Here is a picture of the interior - cramped but sufficient for one guy and his German Shepherd- she has her own bunk fwd if I can persuade her to use it instead of mine. Interior (450 x 600).jpg

That is a veritable 'quart in a pint pot' for sure, and very nicely finished.
I am sure that your German Shepherd wins every time re her choice of bed :)

A man after my own heart! My sweet Serenity will look best in hindsight, and fond memory. Fairing is inconsistent with my need to stop putting money in, and start taking it out.

The best boat to own is the one that works for the owner.

"Yacht" often means "YA Can Hate This" and is best approached with "Your Attorney Can Hire This" while remembering that "Your Accountant Can Help Too". I'll be here for the next five hours, tip your bartender. ;)

How about bribing a few magazines so they hype neoprene covers into fashion for yachts ?
It works nicely on RIBs after all, hiding whatever ugly mess under the thick foam.

Live and let live seems best. In our fleet all boats are length restricted so most parameters are similar. One of the old timer builders in the 90s would adjust bulwarks and cabins to suit the client ( a 5'4" aleut doesn't want or need the same ceiling height or arrangement as the 6'4" Norwegian that fishes his same district).

He was quite the craftsman and known for the quality of his fairing and fit out. One particular buyer didn't want the frills or the high quality finish, the builder obliged and built him what he wanted. That was circa 1992. Fast forward to 2018 and I was building my first glass boat for myself. That old builder who was now in his 90s dropped by to give his feedback having been friends with my grandfather in the 50s. I asked him about where to draw the line about fairing. He pointed out his boats were 30-50 years old and more then 90% were still working. He's known for "never building an ugly boat, well except that one...". He said the labor difference was 2400 vs 2700 hrs to build a pretty boat vs an ugly boat. 300 hrs was the difference.

If your happy with the level of fairing.... good I'll not judge.

But I just got another box of sanding pads...

I'm in favor of the 50 yard finish but what about the resale value? Seems that the 50 yarder may draw significantly less than say one that's a looker from 5? Eventually you have to sell your dream .. for many it's to build the next one (you also get that divorce you thought the first one would surely supply) and the extra loot would be handy.

And higher performance because its lighter and cheaper. The money saved can go to go fast or cruising equipment.

If you put the money saved into a carbon square topped main they won’t get close enough to notice.

It's a genre of art called Deconstructionism. All the best people are having it done lately. Very expensive. ;)

I really like Rael Dobkins approach - no messing, get on with it inventive, inexpensive and highly productive.

Rael Dobkins lost me (and I suspect many others) when he hit the forums spruiking his Go Fund Me page.

Maybe rough exterior, blemishes, defects, mistakes and flaws need to be forgiven for both boat exterior and their builders ;)
