I'm glad you did AF. My requests for help from the office tech people fell on deaf ears.

Hi DC - I hope all is good with you. I've got the final version of my inverted V boat project presentation up on the web at: BoatDesignConcepts.com
Look to the right margin of their home page and you will see a vertical stack of mini pics with some descriptive verbage. A pic of me driving the 188 runabout is, for now, on top. Click on that and you'll bring up a 16 slide presentation including links to the two videos. You have to scroll it manually. Air Flite

Thanks BB! I hadn't seen these before. We are assembling a worthwhile collection here. Soon with my attempt as well.

    From the MISS LAKESIDE article:

"The bilge pumps are located in the bow, and a 2005 inspection report recommended adding at least two additional pumps in the stern."

That's a minimum four bilge pumps!
    Interesting given recent posts.

That is interesting BB. I doubt that few if any of the under 30' original Sea Sleds had self bailing cockpits, so good bilge pump coverage would have been critical. As part of the research for my Air Ride project I bought a used 1988 29' Sea Sled with twin 200s on it. With all that weight hanging off of a 2'+ long mounting bracket, the main deck was barely above the waterline w/o the weight of passengers. Memory is not clear here but I think it had two pumps. Almost sank at the dock several times during downpours.

Although my 18' Air Ride did not have sufficient freeboard to allow for a self-bailing cockpit, the two bilge pumps in the stern did a fine job. The AR-188 carried up to 4 adults safely through numerous storms on Charlotte Harbor (A six miles wide by 20 miles long bay.) without ever taking any sea water aboard, despite her relatively low freeboard. The bilge pumps easily handled the rainwater. At rest at the dock, she had a full cockpit cover which protected against rainwater.

The cockpit deck on the 27' cuddy was 5" above the waterline so it was self-draining with never a problem. That boat was so rainwater proof and so sea kindly that I'm not sure the two bilge pumps ever had to run. Well, that's my 2 cents.

I will rely on watertight bulkheads and decks, and scuppers as big as my fist.
