    Hello.
New here... I am an amateur model ship builder, and have been searching for months for plans for a seiner ship similar to the Western Flyer to no avail. The Western Flyer restoration project manager is not willing to help. Basically, what I am looking for are plans for a seiner type boat approx 70 feet long so I could scratch build a model to approx 1:20 scale. Anything would help..
    Thank you

    Mike,

    welcome to the forums.

I suppose you already know this article on the Western Flyer (assuming it's the vessel in question)?

There's a GA drawing in reasonable resolution that you could use as a starting point to draw your own plans that should end up quite close to the original. The photos included in the article (and I reckon you have some more) show the distinctive shape of the stern, the general hull form (especially the photo with the wooden frames erected in the shed), details of the superstructure and outfitting, etc.

When I was a boy tinkering with model ships I frequently used the same approach to build my models.

Thanks Olav. Yes I have seen the article, and the drawing is quite good. It just does not have the cross sections I need to form the hull frames. Some sort of lofting plans would be ideal.

Contact the Gig Harbor BoatShop (Gig Harbor, WA). They just restored VETERAN, a 63' west coast purse seiner, and might have a set of lines.
