Pearson 35 Hull #11 Blog Repairing the Crazed Gelcoat

    In preparation for a top coat of System Three Water Based Polyurethane over the entire above water exterior. We are taking the steps outlined here.


    Starting with pressure washing, and then a hard scrub with a super aggressive detergent (the purple stuff mechanics use on their floors), both West System and System Three will be used to provide the barrier coat and fairing.

    No solvent wash.

    Yes, with 40 grit. Random Orbit. I was going to report them as I did them.

    That will be happening tomorrow.

    Today more scrubbing and then a final rinse of the cockpit and the coming. The companionway trim, drop boards, and hatch are completely removed and replaced with some repurposed bill board vinyl held in place with Velcro.
