    All:

In addition to the option of purchasing a used cat, I am intrigued by the idea of building. In researching the time and hours involved, a big chunk right off the bat is printing plans, measuring and tracing onto plywood and cutting it all out. CNC machines take all that out of the equation and building starts that much faster as well as ensure perfect scarfs and cuts. It also helps see progress early on helping ensure more projects get finished.

I have found a couple of references to plans cut with CNC but does anyone know which designers have this as an option? It seems like a no brainer in 2020 but not seeing a lot of info on it

I could design any boat you like and prepare not only the information for the numerical control cutting of the parts, but also detailed drawings, 2D and 3E, step by step for the construction. I could also, from an existing design of which the body lines plan and the general arrangement plan are known, obtain the CNC drawings. Please pm me if you want more information.

Any living designer will prepare that info as long as you are willing to pay for it. If the original designer is not available for that kind of work you can hire someone else for it. But it always comes down to money, everything you don't do yourself you have to pay to have it done.

Not any living designer but several not boat designers will prepare that.

Of course you are right, the work is often done by someone else, but from the customers point of view there are two situations: he buys the needed info directly from the designer, or he has to hire someone to do the needed work. The logical end to this is the kit business, where the customer gets all he needed parts and materials from one source.
