Are you suggesting that, in principle, it wouldn't work?

It doesn't matter much what our forum buddy Sdowney 717 in post #8818 thinks about it, in principle the post #8817 Taccola system, in 1449 depicting going against the current powered by the current, works just as well as sole wind powered vehicles driving straight against the wind.

See eg. DUWFTTW ¹ (Directly UpWind Faster Than The Wind)

¹ For good search results, don't allow your search engine to change the abbreviation to the same as linked on the bottom of this post.

‘‘ This is a wind powered vehicle that goes directly into the wind at more than 2 × wind speed. This video was taken on 16 June 2012 at the New Jerusalem airstrip in Northern California. The vehicle was originally designed and built to go directly downwind faster than the wind ², and set a world record by doing so on 2 July 2010, when it went 2.8 × wind-speed directly downwind. The data from one of the runs on this video will be submitted to the North American Land Sailing Association for consideration for a direct upwind record. The vehicle is called the "Blackbird" ’’

    Re post #8820:

    Perpetual Motion by Norman Rockwell

‘‘ Cover of the October 1920 issue of Popular Science magazine, painted by American illustrator Norman Rockwell. It depicts an inventor working on a perpetual motion machine (history). The device shown is a "mass leverage" device, where the spherical weights on the right have more leverage than those on the left, supposedly creating a perpetual rotation, but there are a greater number of weights to the left, balancing the device. ’’

These two where not heritage breeds, they were broad breasteds. I currently have two heritage breed turkeys, one Holland White jenny named Sweetypie, and one mixed bourbon red/Naragansset named Peteypie. A bear got the rest of them.

In WW I there was a lethal electric fence called the Wire of Death on the Dutch-Belgium border.

    Result and legacy

‘‘ . . . .The number of victims is estimated to range between 2,000 and 3,000 people. Local newspapers in the Southern Netherlands carried almost daily reports about people who were 'lightninged to death'. However, many also succeeded in overcoming the fence, often by employing dangerous or creative methods, ranging from the use of very large ladders and tunnels to pole vaulting and binding porcelain plates onto shoes in an attempt to insulate themselves. . . . . ’’

That's what I need to keep the bear from my turkeys. He just went right through my .72 Joule version.

Will, check out the thread Songs About Boats post #368 for some ideas to improve your BearTurkey fence, there it was to discourage Hippos, Elephants, and Leopards to pass the fence, which post was an elaboration of #367.
