"It's a different world where the victor in war is responsible for the reparations of the loser."

This is vaguely similar to the proposal for the cost of settling police brutality lawsuits be taken out of the police pension funds. It's different though as it's concerning acts of crime instead of acts of war. Right or wrong, both ideas would seem to put a damper on things.

It's too hot now. Later, I have to mow the lawn.

if you think it is hot HERE and NOW?

Read the instructions. Do not pick up the mower deck and attempt to use as a hedge trimmer.
(counting on you to turn this upside down, and do the opposite) LOL

A lawn just for pretty, you have to slave over and mow? What is it's value?
Wait, don't tell me, curb appeal. Putting on a good front.
Just like when they are ready to bury you, laying you out for folks to pass by and take their leave of you. Don't he look like himself?. All dressed up, and no place to go!

When they lay me out, I have instructed my wife to place a fork in my hand.
When people ask about it, she will explain.
His grandma always told him to keep his fork while the soiled finished dinner plates were being whisked away,
"Something really good is coming after!" she promised!

The only mowing I ever do, is twice a year, I run the power scythe and roll up the hay at the ranch. Recent years, actually, I hire it done! Tons of hay is worth tons of money!

The glaring difference between us, I believe in REAL values!
And in the end, if you don't want to be left in the dust, read the OEM instructions!
    You won't.

The poor you will always have with you,"
    FROM THE MASTER'S LIPS.
He was chastising the disciples, who had complained, the perfume should have been sold and the money given to the poor.

Do you think that this incident gives us guidance for how we are to relate to poor people for all time (in contravention to all the other Biblical statements enjoining mercy to the poor), or might it have only a very narrow application to one very unusual situation (Jesus' imminent death)?

I was only pointing out, this passage hardly points to, or commands caring for the poor.
You and Samsam seem always to try to read into my posts something more than i say.
Trust me. i know how to say what I mean, and do.
Do you? You can't speak for Samsam, of course. Is it a characteristic, or character flaw, of people who share your POV?
Are you expecting double entendres and hidden agendas, obfuscation in the phrases of other's, because that is your own predilection?
    Something you yourself do?
Hope not, but that might explain your constantly looking for clues to hidden un-saids..

You're the one who is reading into posts more than they say.

If you carefully read my post you will see that I asked you a question. I was asking for a clarification of your position. I didn't assume that I knew your answer.

Furthermore, I didn't post the Biblical text; AII did. Since I didn't post the text it can't be said that I am using it to imply that it "points to, or commands caring for the poor."

I've cherry picked the statement from the Bible because I think in every religion one can always find an isolated statement that tells what one wants to hear, for myself I've never understood why Jesus taught caring for his personal body was more important than caring for the poor.

While caring for the poor is a worthwhile mission for Christians, it is not the number one priority. Did you perhaps get an inking of the true priority from this passage? In the ten commandments, top of the list is priority one, and Jesus condensed all ten into two, for a big clue.

In the Bible, humans come and go, but there is one central character throughout.

For claiming to be a Christian, you certainly don't seem know what the Bible actually says.

    The Sheep and the Goats
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

    John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    Matthew 22:36-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The passage from Matthew 25 indicates that loving your fellow man is accounted by God as loving God himself.

So my interpretation is that we do have an obligation to help out the poor of the world who are harmed by Climate Change. And, according to the Bible, we will be held accountable to God if we don't, and rewarded if we do.

However, I'm not quite sure what God is going to do to me since I'm an agnostic atheist. ;)

Far as I know neighbor means your fellow humans there, and loving them in practical terms include taking care of them wherever you can help them.

I have said, tending to the poor is a worthwhile mission, but not priority one, nor priority two.
    After priority one, which is putting God and his Son first in your life, priority two;

    Mark 16:15-16
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Priority three is looking after your own soul, I suspect. Apostle Paul worried about his.

There is room for tending to the poor after these priorities. Of course, we can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Voluntary donations and service lay up treasures in heaven. Having your tax dollars stolen from you and dispensed at the governments whim, gains nobody brownie points.
