Does anyone know how to manipulate an existing hull geometry using maxsurf?

I am a beginner and I am trying to import the file on Maxsurf by converting it into .3dm file and .igs file but I keep getting errors even when I have toggled the iges save option on Solidworks to say 'NURBS'. I am aiming to use the parametric transformation option on Maxsurf but without the import working I can't do anything further. Advice please? The geometry of the hull is attached

With which application have you created that file? I can't find a way to open it.
Could you upload a version in iges, dxf, 3dm, dwg format?

Hi, I didn't create it myself. It came as part of the tutorial files from Star-CCM+ and I just scaled it up using solidworks, you can open it using Solidworks/rhino

I don't have SolidWorks and can't open it with Rhino. Sorry, help me to help you.

It's okay. May I ask what files you can open of what software you have? I have attached the .3dm file and .igs version. Perhaps one of them may work for you?

I have various programs, Maxsurf among some others, in addition to my own naval architecture software.
I have opened the .3dm file. It is a nice boat. What do you want to do with it, export it to Maxsurf?

I was wanting to convert it into a format that I can import to Maxsurf Modeler so that I can modify the Block Coefficient, LCB, Beam, and Draught using Parametric Transformation as I need to create 27 models with different geometric parameters while keeping the length the same. Once I have changed the parameters of the hull I would like to be able to import it on Star-CCM+ to do CFD simulations and measure resistance.

Do you know by any chance how I would be able to import it on Maxsurf and be able to use the Parametric Transformation to change the geometric parameters without having too much hassle?

You can import your .igs file directly from Maxsurf

Is there anything I am doing wrong? What do you select on the following:

With the version of Maxsurf that I have at the moment I can only handle 20 surfaces, which are many less than those of your model. Try to eliminate some that are useless to you like the rudder for example, and make the model from one side, starboard, for example. Maxsurf will create symmetrical surfaces.
I would use the following settings to import

I think the fact that you can't import those curves doesn't matter because Maxsurf only works with surface models.
In any case, try to remove them from the original model and, as I say, remove half a hull and the entire rudder.

And how are you going to validate the output from the software?

I'll be using available experimental data...

If your MO is a simple sensitivity analysis of hull form parameter's influence on resistance, then why not simple use this data to begin with?
