Lithium battery from electric cars for boat use

    Yes they also use LiFePO4 besides NMC for their ouboards. They also offer a high voltage battery pack made out of current production BMW i3 or i8 modules (wich they specificly mention on the site as assembled in the BMW Dingolfing plant). The 120Ah i3 packs are NMC622, the older 94Ah packs NMC111. Samsung is the cell supplier.

    Let me introduce our new just finished sailboat batteries )
    Specs:
    30V (8s) 235 Ah each of two modules.
    Module weight with case: 40 kg
    BMS with unlimited current discharge capability, 40A charge current. BMS have own waterproof box. Module cases is also waterproof: all joints are spilled with sealant.
    Fuses 150A at each module, temperature sensors at each.
    7100 Wh at each module.

    Modules provided by CATL company, they never was on electric vehicle before, manufactured at december 2019.


    Water tests at boat we plan to do soon.
