    Hello,

I am senior student at the university and need urgent help on how to add mooring lines on ANSYS AQWA for Semi Submersible Floating Structure. If there is ordered way or screenshots on how to do it, it will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Regards

    Welcome to the Forum Mahmoud.
I think it would help a lot if you could provide some more details as to what exactly you are trying to achieve.
Re 'adding mooring lines' - do you need to calculate (or estimate) the stresses in these lines, and hence determine what type / size they should be?
Are they chains, wire ropes, synthetic ropes...… ????
What size semi submersible floating structure are you dealing with?

Of course, when in doubt google (I always forget to do this first).... so I did after writing the thoughts above - but I am still not really more enlightened.

Maybe contact the ANSYS folk via their web page and ask them?

Thank you for your response. Here are details: yeah I need to calculate the stresses in these lines, they should be catenary shape mooring lines and chains. The size of the semi submersible is 115 meter.

Actually Google doesn't have tutorials for Ansys AQWA and the whole internet doesn't have tutorials on how to add mooring lines to the structure and catenary shape etc.. also it will be so difficult to contact ANSYS.

So please can you help me and tell me how to add those mooring lines to the structures and where to see the results in Hydrodynamic Diffraction and Hydrodynamic Response ?

Thank you so much. Really appreciate your response and help.

I'm sorry, but I know absolutely nothing at all about mooring lines - I remember (vaguely) that we covered them briefly in our Ship Dynamics course at college, but that was 35 years ago now, and I haven't looked at those notes since then.
But hopefully somebody else will be able to give you some guidance and help.

Right click Connections, insert connections, you would find cable, with that, you can add mooring lines.

    Best regards,
