Laser sailboat crack

    Hi my name is Cody i recently bought a old laser and got home and realized there was a crack in the bottom front of the hull under the mast step and when i put water into the mast hole it comes right out the crack! if anyone has advice on a repair please let me know

    Welcome to the forum.

    Cody, pictures would help.

    Sounds like;
    • Grinding
    • Epoxy and fiberglass cloth
    • Fairing and paint or gelcoat
    This is a very common repair, but there could be other issues you haven't stayed.

    Many years ago, there was a mast step repair kit available, I don't know if it still is. The main problem is sand between the mast and hull grinding the mast step bottom. Once repaired I'd advise getting one of the teflon disks that drop into the foot to stop it happening again.
    There are other threads on the subject, it's all covered by them.. and videos on the net..
