I learned the hard way not to wear the wrong color attire. I found myself in the Petrified Forest wearing a t-shirt that was an exact match to the orange flowers there which were very attractive to the black wasps in the region.

A local fish tug breaking the ice . . .

St. James Harbor near the northeasterner end of Beaver Island in Lake Michigan, the lighthouse is the Beaver Island Harbor Light, aka St. James Harbor Light, aka Whiskey Point Light, the fish tug is heading southeastwards in the pics, maybe clearing the way for the Beaver Island - Charlevoix ferry, or maybe she's going fishing in the open water which I think can be seen beyond the ice field, the wind seems to be coming from the northwest.

Interesting story about the kinda self appointed King’ of Beaver Island who reported that he had been ordained to the prophetic office by an angel, and subsequently changed his belief to polygamy and got himself five wives from his church congregation, but others didn't like his strict regimen of being flogged when accused of adultery, so they shot him down then pistol whipped him and took off on the young USS Michigan, no need to clear the ice I think, as it was on June 16, 1856 . . .

Nice boats Tiny, they still can be ordered from e.g. MacDuff, it seems to me though they believe in more working freeboard than on the fish tugs . . .

I think it must be very skilled fishermen to keep them afloat for ages . . :)

I think you're right, Angel! And I think working in those dark confined spaces, hauling nets about and packing fish must be very tough. It would make me grumpy and sea sick. I love the toughness of the boats though

You may well be right Angel, I love it. But, more importantly, I think you've a new long running thread there : toughest boat ever?

Grey River bar in full flood, Greymouth New Zealand, two tough boats bringing in the fish . . .

    — I will never complane at the price of fish again —

    — These fishermen probably need personal attendants with wheelbarrows to help them with their giant balls —

    That's from the video comments . . .
