    Corley epoxy coated

This has to be the most absorbing RdR in a long time watching the tracker and news updates is taking a lot of time out of my day :).

I'm so sad for Josse and Verdier and the whole Team-what a drag. Too bad for Sodebo as well....

Macif 35.2 knots, Banque Pop, 33.2 knots and about 18 miles back.

One thing for sure the new foil systems work well but what will it matter as long as the ocean is such a mess?!! I hope the others can avoid a ufo collision.
The need for some electronic collision avoidance thingamajig is greater than ever but these boats probably exceed the speed at which such a radar/sonar system would work with current technology.....

    The Gitana website says:
IMPORTANT INFO: Starboard float beam torn off. Sébastien Josse safe and sound, is routed towards the Spanish coast ... GitanaTeam on Twitter https://t.co/Jvl2coi3y7

That may be a translation problem because if the "beam*" had been torn off the rig would probably come down.
    *crossbeam??
    More from the Gitana site:

"STARBOARD FLOAT BEAM RIPPED ABOARD THE MAXI EDMOND DE ROTHSCHILD
ROUTE DU RHUM DESTINATION GUADELOUPE MAXI EDMOND DE ROTHSCHILD SÉBASTIEN JOSSE
Shortly after 5:30, Sébastien Josse warned his team manager of a major damage aboard the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild. While sailing at the head of the Route du Rhum Destination Guadeloupe fleet and achieving a remarkable start to the race, the solitaire suffered a brutal stop.

Immediately on the deck, he noticed the loss of part of the bow of his starboard float. It is night on area and given the state of the sea ?? about 4.5 meters of swell ?? and wind ?? 30 knots North, it is difficult to measure the extent of the damage.

Sébastien Josse is safe and is currently seeking with his team on the ground and his cell routing a solution to rally as soon as possible land.

Indeed, the key is now to protect the sailor because a new depression will sweep the Bay of Biscay in the coming hours.

    More information to come."
