Thanks for your suggestion Rurudyne and that would be ideal. The pod is already partly completed in foam and glass and it is only possible to alter the height of the pod above the hulls (and water)
but the beam and thus hull spacing is fixed. The box beam arrangement is an integral part of the pod and ply/glass 'struts' emerge from the hulls (at a point where the original tornado main beams were
attached) to which the pod's integral beams will be fixed. I will photograph the pod shortly so that my description makes some sense. The overriding factor is meant to be simple and hassle free launching and trailering.
At this point I should inform that I have already partly built the boat including the upper hull modifications, the 'struts' and the base of the pod.

These photos hopefully show the arrangement of the pod, the vee and the hull additions. At this stage the pod is not attached to the hulls but is simply sitting in place. The rear flat panel of the pod will be removed and the outboard motor positioned there. This panel gives an indication of the eventual floor height in the main part of the pod. The beams in the pod will be used for seating and storage.

I think that step could also rub your line when you are playing a fish. I would say vertically aligned as you have now or sole wider than hulls as another poster suggested
