RIP Mr. Paul [PAR] Riccelli

Yes, sad news. Looks wise, to me , his designs were ok but I'm sure in every other way they were top notch and among the best available. He knew the boat craft better than anybody else here, you can tell by his remarks/answers that they were backed by many years of experience, and well thought out.

Anybody in the future looking for any kind of advice on boats would do well to value greatly his input and ideas.

 

A very decent man who always gave balanced feedback. God bless, Paul, you will be missed.

Building RYD-16.9 Rocky - Hull 21​

 

Just recently (Mar 16, 2018) Paul posted about his condition on the George Buehler RIP thread, in post #3.

 

Amazing that he maintained his presence here, and good cheer, with the diabolical health problems he had.

 

Btw, was hoping to at get a "meh" reply (as long as he didnt say it was a POS) from PAR concerning my build as it will be ready for water soon , I would gladly accept it, just showing how much i respected his opinion.

Whenever I had an issue, would punch it up in boatdesigns and Paul's answers were always prudent, actually hoped one day to make it down to his parts to meet him face to face

 

Wow! A very good man gone way too soon. Along with others above - condolences to family and friends. And to those of us who only knew him by his posts, yes he will be greatly missed, but at the same time remembered, and his wisdom remains. RIP Paul.

Some one once said "a teacher affects eternity; he never knows where his influence will stop"
his selfless influence will live on ...

 

PAR I will miss you. Over the last 7 years I have read most all of PAR's posts and I really appreciate his help and advice when I was building my boat. Whenever I saw a post of his I would read them and I gained a lot of knowledge about boats, working with epoxy and just general boat stuff. Thanks PAR we are really going to miss you R.I.P.

 

RIP Paul, wherever you are I hope you are reading this. I remember he was once called "a walking encyclopedia" because of his immense knowledge and experience. Yet he is so unselfish and would always share his knowledge.

 

Always enjoyed his posts; advice borne of experience and a good sense of humour.

 

Sad news. PAR was a fountain of knowledge and he shared it willingly and with good nature and good humor for the betterment of the all who enjoyed the water.

He will be sorely missed indeed. It all goes to show that we're only on this earth for a limited time and he was able to leave a legacy of learning and knowledge that will be appreciated for a long time..

 

Paul was someone special. I'll always feel bad about not starting construction on Cindy Lou in time for him to see her finished. He put a lot of thought into making her not just practical but good looking, and would've enjoyed seeing her afloat.

His wife Gail is also special, and an important part of making Paul who he was. I'm so sorry for her loss.

 

Wow. My jaw dropped when I saw this. Some 11 years ago I began a restoration odyssey. Over the years Paul and others (Alan White comes to mind) took the time to offer advise, make critical observations, give encouragement and maybe most importantly get me laughing! His encouragement was part of what kept me going during the "I'm tearing my hair out" stage. Paul was a large part of making my restoration a success. I'll be making my first trip down the intracoastal in 2020 and planned on renting a car and driving out to Eustis so I could buy him dinner and a few drinks. Well, that will never be. When I cross into the state of Florida, I'll pour myself a scotch and remember Paul. He's a friend that I never met. Thanks Paul. I only knew you through this forum but I sure will miss you.
