Well, first of all this is my very first thread.

I'm currently a student studying Naval Architecture and we plainly doing it "manual". Hand-drawn but at some point the professors letting us to use autoCAD and still no "advance software" or whatsoever.

Is there any software + ebook guide with the corresponding software that you guys would recommend? And maybe recommending some books for a total newbie either with the software guide or book contains theories often used in designing (lcb, lcf, etc.)?

Please kindly help and thank you

Of course with AutoCAD you can carry out most of the calculations of naval architecture, but it is quite cumbersome, although very accurate. Of course, it is worse to do it entirely by hand.
If you understand Spanish, I can provide you with detailed texts on how to do it.

Sadly AutoCAD is still pretty "harsh" since you need to project every lines in body, sheer and the half breadth plan manually.. not to say the other plan(s) you need to do.
    And I don't understand spanish.
But, is there any software you can recommend?

I'm sorry, I seem to have misunderstood you. I thought that the teacher asked you to do the calculations by hand but with AutoCAD.
Naval architecture software there are many. You can search with Google. I, in particular, use Maxsurf, which in my opinion is very complete, but it is not cheap. I also use my own software, ARQN, which uses AutoCAD not only for calculations but also to make all drawings derived from calculations and other drawings needed in a project.

Luckily I have the student version of maxsurf. But in the other hand, it seems I can't get somewhere without any some sort of pocket/handy books about the basics of maxsurf. Any basic book for maxsurf then?

Oh and I've just recently opened your website. Is everything there (ARQN, SCT, MyR R3, DWGtools, Formas) need to be paid first before using?

In my opinion the best text about maxsurf is the User's Manual of the application. Also, I seem to remember, you can find videos on Google.
Regarding my applications, all can be tested for free for a period of 30 days, expandable period if the user needs it.
