Hi Hoyt, I was thinking that's some real sad, but Gulf coast news, so how broad are the concepts on this new thread for the terms: ‘‘real’’ and for ‘‘ocean’’ and for ‘‘news’’ ?

E.g. is an ± five year old event about enough water to wet a post stamp sufficient to leave a message here, while this even could be fake news about a fake post stamp, or even the drop of water there could be fake and only imagined, so no one really understands how that fake post stamp was wetted there anyway some while back ?

Or are there heavier terms of use applicable for posting on this new thread ?

Anyway, I'll sure hope for some good news too . . :)

    Good luck !

Firstly, the floating casino is the Topical Breeze, not the San Cruz or the Santa Cruz as has been miss-reported. The terminal is called the SunCruz Port. This event had real casualties, real rescuers, no polar bears and was very sad for those who suffered great and even fatal injuries. I would focus on boating, fishing and wildlife news. It should be timely, so nothing older than the great Nearchus and nothing more than 5 years into the future should be posted. It won't have consequences but it would probably be irrelevant to the scope envisioned for this thread. Post as you see fit.

When the ark of Noah is found, that will be relevant.

So till the Ark is found we start from ± 360 BC then, here's a 19th-century sketch of the great navarch Nearchus leading his fleet about 325 BC across the River Indus in the nowadays Pakistan, no guarantees however that the whole situation is historically correct depicted . . .

I'll stay out of that discussion, because for believing that something can be found, one has to believe that it ever has existed in the first place.

But for those who fit the category, it sure means there's enough to discuss already: Ark Noah found ---> photographic ‘‘evidence’’

BTW, some real ‘‘ocean’’ news, and also the Ark is involved, as on 3 Jan. 2018, so less then two weeks ago, in the harbor of Urk in the Netherlands, a kinda replica from the story of Noah's Ark broke loose from her berth in a storm, and was set adrift = dutch link . . .

The story of Noah and the Ark is old, even older than that of the great navarch Nearchus and his battles and travels, but finding the Ark would be news that dates from after Nearchus, so according to the scope of this thread as envisioned in post #3, the discovery of the allegedly missing Ark would be newsworthy here.

So till so far, this thread's tendency is consistent to say at least, I believe.

Now fish from the Middle Ages, and even much older seascapes showing some alleged walking on water fits the envisioned scope of this thread I'll post a painting from the collection of the National Gallery in London which depicts this all . . .

It's a Flemish fish market by Joachim Beuckelaer in 1569. It's from his Four Elements series and is named Water because of what's depicted in the background. What only little people know is that Antwerp in the Middle Ages had a view on the ancient Middle East, since through the gothic archway in the background you see Christ walking on the Sea of Galilee after his resurrection, making many fish appear miraculously in the previously empty nets. And because of this far away view of Jesus the Flemish fish market displays twelve kinds of fish, representing the twelve disciples of Christ.

Peter has left the boat and kneels on the water in front of Jesus, who because of the wind walks in front of a big wave, then Peter starts sinking because of his little faith, and Jesus rescues him, then they both climb into the boat, according to this one of the two depicted biblical stories in the background of the painting. The other one to be seen in the same view is about the pulling on the nets in this story of a miraculous catch of 153 large fish.

Old or new, when the Ark comes to rest it is news worthy. What a mess that made!

I wonder if they found a rare rat under it when they cleared the wreckage.

It was a model of the Ark adrift in there, so I suspect all animals were represented, even rats and also some mouse-deer, pictured here is a Java subspecies . . .
