    Hi Umut,

Neither your picture, nor the drawing show a 4.2 meter boat.

    this is a Matt Layden drawing, and L = 4.05 m

It could be Matt later converted* your shown drawing into the above shown hard chine and narrow transom Swamp Thing, which he built in 1985.

(Edit: * Just saw that this is not the case, as Swamp Thing is much older than the here shown drawing, see my next post.)

Here are Swamp Thing's 2005 rebuild pictures, when she since a long time belonged to another owner, as Matt continued designing, building and sailing new boats.

Your above pic, as well as the below shown pics are of the Yrvind Aren, a L = 4.9 m × B = 0.94 m boat, which Sven built in 2004-2005. - (spare link)

    Hello Angelique,

Thank you very much for your correction. Is there a drawing for 4.9 meters x 0.92 meters boat ? Its a lovely boat I want to build.

Thank you and wish you the best new year .

I don't know if there's another design drawing publicly available for this boat, but after studying the website info a bit more it turns out for me that Sven indeed built the boat from the drawing you have posted, and maybe from some more drawings, but he has heavily modified the concept during construction.

I've enlarged your drawing, and the cadre in it even more, and I've put that extra enlargement at the bottom . . . .

Sailboat YrvindAren Aren hull L 4.05 m B 0.94 m Designed by Sven Yrvind and Drawn by Matt Layden.jpg
( Just saw that above ‘‘Drawn by Matt’’ it says ‘‘Stuart FL USA’’ which seems correct to me for where Matt lives. )

This originally was a L 5.4 m hull, as designed by Sven, and drawn by Matt for Sven.

Later Sven reduced the design to 75 % of the original, and so he got the L 4.05 m hull in this drawing.

As can be seen in the final end result pictures; Sven heavily modified the concept during construction.

I'm not sure what the final length of the finished boat is, it could be that the L 4.9 m (16'), which Sven names here, is the LOA including the rudder, and maybe it's even including the sculling oar which sticks out far behind when pulled up . . o_O - (spare link)

Best check first what Sven himself says about this boat in the given links.

What is your intended use for this boat . . ?

Best wishes to you too Umut . . :)

    Angelique, Good morning,

I want to make the boat my little home at southwest Turkey or Northeast Turkey.

My sister and I will travel Kackar Mountains at Rize , Black Sea coast and I will see whether its a good place to live in the sea side.

My intention is to live in the nature , rent free. I dont intend to go far but may be I can go to Romania and enter Danube and climb as far as I can do.

The trip will be around september and I am planning to build the boat at fishermans port in Istanbul.

    Hi Umut,

Sven is not a big guy, but he has found out that the boat was to small inside for himself alone when wearing winter clothes.

Besides that, this is a cold weather boat with no cockpit, and no livable deck space at all on the finally built version, all sailing work and steering is done from the two little hatches, and I'll think it will get very hot inside in summer in the areas you've named, even with all ventilation open . .

    Good luck !

You can sail upstream the Danube all the way through Eastern and Central Europe while passing 10 countries* and countless cities and villages there, as well as beautiful nature, to end up at the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal in Germany, and then down stream the Rhine to Holland, then through the canals and rivers in Belgium and France to the Med (so 13 countries by now), then possibly (depends on you and your boat) through the Med around Italy and Greece back to Istanbul (so at least a 16 countries trip, including your own), but that last very long trip through the Med requires a seaworthy boat and captain though, as well as the first part through the Black Sea from Istanbul to the Danube delta I'll think.

    * Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, many times as being a border river.
