What drives me crazy is the use of a subjective pronoun in place of an objective pronoun.
Correct example: Bring the outboard motor to PAR and me. Without PAR you would bring it to me.
Example of incorrect usage: Bring the outboard motor to PAR and I. If, in the absence of PAR, you were to bring it to I it would be incorrect. People on TV make this mistake constantly.
Fixing this common error would go a long way towards making America great again. ;)

Just a slight comment: if someone needs a spelling or syntactic checker, it is best not to write a book. He would not need an editor but a technician in the field who knows how to write.

What? 99% of people don't write very well, certainly not well enough for a book, particularly a detailed and technical volume. I'm not sure of your idea of a "technician", but an editor knows how to write, but more to the point knows how to sustain the writer's style, without having to rewrite the piece.

I can not imagine who you mean with that 99%. I am convinced that people, at least the one I know, write well and try to write better every day. It is inconceivable that a person with certain studies can not write correctly. Among other things because throughout his studies he had to read a lot and write hundreds of studies, summaries, etc.
If a person does not know grammar or syntax, it is best not to write. There are many other tasks that, surely, will be good for him. I suppose than as, probably, you and I have similar experience in writing books, our opinions are equally valid and that we do not need to exaggerate the figures (99%o_O) to defend them.

That's ridiculous, many write books that haven't a clue how to write, just look at Trump, which is why you hire an editor. Again, most people can type something, but most (again) don't write well, generally averaging 10 grade reading levels (if their lucky), which isn't good enough for a technical volume. I don't think 99% is very far off the mark and this forum is a good place to see this displayed. If we follow your logic, then no one would build a boat in their backyard, because they've never done it before.

Maybe the idea that I have of an editor is totally different from yours. In any case, my opinion is as ridiculous as yours.
That's ridiculous, and it is not kind to despise this forum in that way. I do not agree, at all, with 99%. It is possible that you do not know how to do one thing but there are others, many who know how to do it.
That's ridiculous, I do not see any reason for a person with manual skills, with experience as a builder in his backyard, is able to write a book. Explain the connection between both "abilities", please.

Both abilities require intelligence. There is the connection.

That he blames on communicating in a foreign language here, but having seen his Spanisch I can't say this is any better.
