Adding strakes

I noticed in another of his threads/videos it is pretty steep at the transom, looked like 20 degrees. That is a problem if you want easy planing with low power.

Similar boats always have many small differences, so you can't attribute the full outcome of the test to only one difference such as the absence of lift strakes. You don't know what is causing the difference in outcome if more than one factor is at stake during the comparison, and therefore to attribute it to only one factor is just speculation and also it's highly unlikely true it's only due to one factor as all the small differences at stake have their influence in the test.

 

While there is some merit in this observation, your suggestion that " it is speculation and is highly unlikely true" is incorrect. The first couple of boats that we built, off the same jig, with the same motor and pump and impeller cut did not have any strakes. We used a fuel flow meter and a Stabila angle level to determine running angle.

The first boats gave us a set of tables as we built more, we added first, flat lift strakes and then reverse, or down turned strakes. The boat gave better performance with each change. The only gray area might have been the pitot tube style speedometer, the same manufacturer but difficult to guarantee the accuracy of speed between the gauges
