small wooden boat sail

hi every one, i have a small wooden rowing boat, i like to put sail on her, but could not deside what kind of riggind to put, can any one give me idea what will be the best for the boat on the picture, she has long keeled.

Is that a typical Turkish / Marmaris two person rowing boat ?

She doesn't look that small to me, what are her sizes, length, beam, draft, empty weight ?

I think the proposed conversion could be done, she will not be a racing sailboat though, but she'll be able to sail if you shift the crew's weight around for ballast and add some appendages like a rudder and something to offer leeway resistance, like leeboards or a daggerboard or a centerboard, or you could try first if the existing keel beam offers sufficient leeway resistance already. For the rig a balanced lug looks like a good option to me for this boat.

She has a boomed spritsail rig, which is another option for your boat, and is also possible without a boom.

A sprit is a small spar reaching diagonally from low on a mast to the upper outer corner of the sail.

On below picture the sprit is hiding on the other side of the sail. Also, it's possible to perform a jib on a sprit sail rig.

LADYBUG, she's not a conversion, but here as an example of the balanced lug rig.

* Note that the whole rig fits into the boat for rowing or trailering or storage.

 

hi, thank you for your info, yes she is a typical Turkish boat for abaut 4 people, she is 450 cm leght , 170 cm beam, 50 cm draft, empty weight is abaut 250 kilograms. she is build for fishing also.

Mizana, that is a handsome boat you have. I like the idea of a lateen rig, like the middle picture of your last post above, because it looks traditional for the Med. I have no idea how it would handle though.
