Carpet sample squares are best for cleaning fish, IMO.
The fish don't slide and the carpet square can be immersed and brushed to clean and is portable.

This is where I'll install a duckbill scupper freeing port, or two, to drain cockpit.

Don't like or trust little one inch drains typical in smaller cruising sailboat's cockpits.

The commercial duckbill pictured, is 2 1/2 inch diameter.

Might make my own out of an old car or truck innertube. 4, 5, or 6 inch diameter.
That would be big enough to quickly drain cockpit.

No rule exists that says a cockpit needs to be symmetrical.

So, I created various heights and styles of seats.
Double as steps to climb onto wharf.
Can sit facing forward, or outboard with legs beneath railing.
Wide side decks for feet, as you can see.

Showing the port aft seat with it's railing just leaning temporarily alongside.
Backs will be sculpted into more pleasing arcs, softer less angular profiles.
In background a centerline helm seat even higher.
A flying bridge is a raised steering station.
This "flying bridge" doesn't have a surround. Flying by the seat of my pants, my arse is hung out in the wind. :D
My inspiration was the pilot seat on airboats.

Space beneath pyramid of seats is additional room enlarging aft cabin.

The starboard aft seat, 2nd photo, is lower to allow easier climbing aboard from dinghies, and intended to be able to stretch out your legs when facing forward.
A cruise liner deck lounge chair inspiration.
It too gets a railing for security and putting your legs under facing outboard, though not shown in photo.
It also will get a drain and more fairing.

The last two pictures are the port and starboard aft seat lockers.

    Tackle boxes! BIG tackle boxes.

For fishing? Really big lures for really big fish?

    Nope. Ground tackle.

    Docklines, anchors, and anchor rodes.

All these fiberglass parts, seats, lockers, deck, were salvaged from old wrecks headed for a land fill.
Considering that the fiberglass I chose, didn't delaminate during it's first half century, I believe I can trust the quality of construction.

These are the first pictures in awhile.
But that doesn't mean I haven't been busy.
The earlier photos of cockpit parts, those parts required considerable fiberglassing on the seams underside, to secure the pieces and make watertight.

I've also been working on the fore and aft companionways.
Designing as I go, I was temporarily stumped how the forward companion hatch should open.
No matter where I put a hinge, the hatch could only open minimally before encountering wind-shield.
    Solution?
A lift off hatch. Not hinged or mechanically attached at all.
Why not just be lift off and stow below?
    Seems simple and obvious now.
It's under the wheelhouse roof and out of the wind and rain.
Unlikely to be blown overboard. A simple clip-on tether with a snap-hook would make it even less likely.
The companionway slide boards lift out.
The hatch can be stowed below with the rest of the companionway's closure.

Gives a lot more room when entering and leaving salon. :D

Copied an earlier picture (last below) to allow ya'll to see how I'm making the coaming from jigsaw puzzle pieces of wrecks.

Feeling ashamed it took two days to solve this simple puzzle, a simple lift off hatch solution.

Brain must be getting old and tired, I think.

The doors are to the aft companionway accessing aft cabin.
Between the two aft tackle box seat/lockers, shown two posts prior to this one.

Yobarnacle is still without a computer at the moment, but he is sending me some photos from his phone to post for him. Updates are to be posted shortly.

These photos show the scuppers/freeing ports/scupperzillas, the last one has Yobarnacle's hand to show the scale. These are located along the aft portion of the deck.

Well, soon was a bit optimistic, but some photos will be posted before too long. Yobarnacle still lacks internet service but has come up with a gadget that he will soon share with the forum. License to make and use the gadget is free as long as no one tries to sell it as he will consider it as public domain and free to all.

The Gravy Boat project continues, albeit slowly. The rainy season makes progress slow and difficult. Photos will be posted eventually. Yobarnacle has promised to post them when he is ready.
In the meanwhile I will post a photo of my new land schooner. 20180703_123438_HDR.jpg 20180623_143845.jpg

The Gravy boat project is not dead but it is in storage and will be shelved for several months more until a new boatyard is located.

Thanks Hoyt, for keeping the thread alive in my forced absense.
My two Albin 25s are in storage on their trailers. The projects are temporarily on hold, until i slowly set aside some funds to continue. No other news to report, except my wife and I are well.and I once again have both a computer and internet access at the same time.
