Why is there this gap in the bows of spectrum 61

 

To make it as ugly as possible, like the rest of the boat?

 

Less weight hahahaha

 

I suppose you'd need to see what is underwater to guess better.

 

submerged glass viewing port and the gap is to allow the sea creatures to swim over the top of the viewing port?
Makes about as much sense as anything else on the boat.

I think just about making a "different" ship without harm, too much, hydrodynamics. It is only a reason to talk about it.

I don't think this vessel will ever be sailed that hard that it would have need of ax bows. Half the time I just consider them a fashion statement of this modern day.

But perhaps the designer has included some very long bulb bows, and that projection out front 'reaches down, or bridges' from deck level to lend support to the long bulb bows. I don't know??

 

That bow is to start people talking... it has worked.
The sails are to help control the speed achieved with twin 1850 kw (2500 hp) engines. Who knows where/how)they are going carry sufficient fuel.
