The trouble is with Rules and Regulations they are often out of date and designed by Consultants from Industries with financial interests.

 

Just think that from the earliest days of power boating they could have had Safe Remote Fuel Systems for power boats solving all fuel problems in one stroke and saved lots of lives and injuries, instead of the band aid tricks applied today.

They knew about the benefits of long induction tubes to better charge cylinders and long exhaust for extraction.
Placing gravity fed fuel tanks under the quarter decks made boating exciting.

 

you cant buy a marine engine with a carby any more can you so most of the issues are gone?

There must be millions of carby boat running around still.
I would not want to see carbys back but would prefer a LPG or similar system that uses injection of liquid gas ( not to be confused with conversion of LPG to gas) and loved the LPG set up I tried. You can make your fuel so secure even Hydrogen if you want to.

But for diesel boats with out a real marine fuel tank (most just have a box of fuel) it solves lots of engine stopping problems.

I am referring to Liquid Petroleum Gas injected in a liquid form same as gasoline EFI system, not Compressed Natural Gas.

 

I ve not seen a lpg liquid injection system, any links?

There is a lot of variable ram induction designs and possibilities.
I used a straight tube with ports progressing down the tube with a sliding tube exposing or covering ports at different settings.

I never read up on this, just assumed it was a gas mixer.
Fine for the road but you dont want lpg in an engine bilge hence my comment on cng as its light than air

You are pointing out the benefits of Remote Fuel System for power boats, keeping all parts of the fuel system isolated from the inside of your boat so they can not leak into the bilges whether it`s gasoline, gas or any other fuel including supposedly safe diesel.
That should not be difficult to understand if you put your mind to it.

Outboards and their fuel systems are not necessarily as safe as you would like to believe with their thirst and large volumes of volatile fuel aboard under your feet that does not make me comfortable.

Diesel boats burn far more often the petrol ones do.
Never heard or seen a properly maintained petrol boat have a fire.
Uscg have spent years making them safer.
