For those of a nervous disposition sailing in close quarters, I don't think foils and all that high speed trickery would work! My sailing clubs regatta week August 2015. There is a video of the 1908 regatta on the net as well but at the moment I can't find a working one.

and although we do start at 5 minute intervals you can get all 150 boats in that same bit of water at the same time. 10 ft to 40ft sailing boats, with untrained tourists driving hire motor boats through the fleet as well...
I'm in there driving a rescue boat that year ( and will be this year) laying about with the large Aussie leather hat.
Oh and we have to avoid this thing which is moored very near the club and which comes out regularly all day

And the Big passage race "The Three Rivers Race" skip to 4.30 to see the Preparations for the race and then the starts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnWHWgAnXGI up to 150 boats, 54 miles of course, the mast has to come down 4 times to get under bridges ( one is only 6ft 6 inches high) and you've got 24 hours to do it.
And no the wind isn't always like that, try sailing there in a fleet of 20 boats in 40 Knots of wind!!!

I'd love to sketch up a glass nose on one of these things for you. Something akin to the early flying wing commercial concepts perhaps ( to see the water below).

Let me know if you would like some help, I work cheap, sometimes even free.

Using the Google search phrase "natural formation" on an image search results in many spectacular finds.

However I don't trust some of these Pinterest images to all be non-photoshopped.

Fun pictures, but not believable as reality, of course. :D
