This is another fine example about fine structure EDM wire cutting titanium VS Vacuum lost wax investment casting.
This week the work shop owner, Tan and I started to manufacture for kick starter backers rewards a small GR5 titanium structure to fit a magnet for a boat key ring accessory .

This is better example picture below of EDM wire cutter precision that is a tweezers crossed with a nail file I took one hour to design and one hour after that I had a edm wire cut 1" long tweezers nail file that fits unnoticeable onto a boat key ring.
I have so many new fine designs I can now create on the spot because of EDM and no need for mold tooling although the majority of my design can not be made by vacuum furnace lost wax investment casting which I do cast for my larger designs such as the titanium DIY rubber cord replacement torsions suspension I designed for boat trailers

    From post #16...
My guess is that it doesn't take long to burn the automatic centrifugal clutch of the Honda scooter when pulling like this . .

I have no problems with the automatic clutch as the titanium torsions do its job well even though the trailer deck is close to the ground which is a bit like the VW car pan bottom and why they make good beach buggy's.
I designed the DIY replaceable rubber cord suspension not so much for that small trailer but for research and development for the future Myark folding trailer pontoon designs that are extremely light and marine proof.
As you may of also seen the picture below of the titanium torsions which the rubber cords are held in the aluminum structure with its own pressure, to replace the rubber cords if worn over time like torsions do, its aluminum structure is simply G clamped and then the end parts are easily removed and the cords are replaced for about $2 each.
No nuts, bolts or pins but the cords own pressure hold the aluminum structures in place that incases the cords.
I designed and manufactured the mold tooling and supervised the making of the wax shapes and the pouring of the Gr5 titanium from the vacuum lost wax investment castings furnish.

Despite the suspension work of titanium torsions below the trailer, the weight that has to be pulled is far more than the Honda automatic centrifugal clutch is designed for.

I can't believe that the automatic centrifugal clutch lasts long with this kind of overcharge usage.

The pictures show the owner of the work shop and his employee last week while they CNC machine the Philips screw driver part on the 2200 Little Bit More gr5 titanium key ring accessory I designed and are manufacturing for kick starter backers.

Cost of titanium is not expensive for its mechanical property's such as never rust, none magnetic, skin friendly, excellent elastic features for spring motion, strong and light as with the Split Second Key Ring I designed and manufactured from Gr5 titanium, conventional thought would think a spring needs to go inwards that does not work because of the key rings compact size, but I made the spring go side ways that allows plenty of room for the key to come of with out pressing spring with finger to open gate, by pressing with the key itself instead of finger the key comes of or on the key ring in a split second.
The pictures attached show experimenting with jigs I designed to the secondary manufacturing procedures in my apartment.
The Split Second Key name is because it takes a split second to remove a key for the ring .
I have further designed this key ring far superior with multi tool functions that is suited for the a marine key ring as it does not rust and none magnetic.

I use the trailer a lot with my two sons for fun and still no clutch problem ;)
No strain on motor bike as the trailer is made from aluminum and titanium.

You forgot to mention there's also load in the trailer sometimes, the reasons you relied why the automatic centrifugal clutch would endure this useage is just demagoguery, so I don't believe ‘‘no problems with the automatic clutch’’ and ‘‘I use the trailer a lot’’ go together as you say.

Here's a guy who enlarged the end gearing of a similar Honda by changing the sprockets from 14/35 to 17/28 to utilize the fuel economy and speed potential of the fairing he built. This enlarged end gearing was to heavy for the automatic centrifugal clutch, so he rebuilt it to manually operated.

For the automatic centrifugal clutch this enlarged end gearing is equivalent to the extra weight of the trailer plus load you tow.

    Some more here.

Believe what you want as I do not care one way or the other although the clutch is in perfect working condition several years after till this day, that picture you showed when I towed the trailer the bike at that very time had a flat tire and still towed the trailer, my two sons and wife aboard the trailer about 3km back home and the tire was still usable that cost a couple of $ to repair.

the pictures you displayed with slip stream fairings remind me of an inventor in New Zealand called John Britten who his bike design is on the front book cover called Kiwi Ingenuity along side my folding trailer pontoon invention which we also both featured in a one hour TV documentary about New Zealand inventers.
John died a year or so later of a brain tumor 20 years ago and was at first looked down upon until his motor bike won first place against the main brand racing bikes in a famous Europe racing event.

The story of John Britten is one of those real-life Hollywood stories, in fact if had been written as a fictional script it would have seemed too far fetched to be even remotely believable.

The story is that of a backyard engineer in New Zealand who designed and hand-cast a multi-valve racing engine, created a body entirely out of carbon fibre, designed a revolutionary frameless chassis with the engine acting as a stressed member, moulded his own carbon rims and designed a totally unique suspension set up on both ends of a motorcycle, then took the bike to the US and trounced every major motorcycle manufacturer in the world with it.

If you’d like to see the whole story you can watch it below, the film is a little dated now but it’s well-worth a watch.

Too bad what happened to John Britten . . . :(

You've already mentioned the book, and I've already responded to it, so I wonder why you're repeating . .

Well Myark, it seems you share your dreams with Richard Marx, but the ballad is a bit to sweet for my taste . . . ;)

P.S. - It's time to go back to "Cost of Titanium" I think, sorry for the distraction . .
