    .....in each thread

O.K. , not each thread, but, at least 50% have been hijacked :(
( always with the same pix and " theories" ) :(:(

Yepp , discussing foilers is O.K., but overwhelming each topic about DIY cats and new designs ?

Seems like riding on a (dead) (foil)horse thru an individual "dessert " named "Dougfoil
    " ;)

    Foilification

Totally inaccurate, Pogo!! Of the 40 threads listed on this page(not counting this thread) 7 are about foilers, that's 17.5%!!
What is the problem? You can start a thread about anything you want to. I don't get it.
Of course, "foilification" is going on world wide in every area of sailing-just part of a continuing revolution-with much, much more to come.......

    P.S.
Yessa, it is a revolution, a headmade revolution.
Folks need an want other boats, they don't need theories or models, they don't need high-end multi million dollar racers.
Folks need practicable , usable boats.
One can't evolve practicable , affordable boats with models , or gimmickal, unaffordable high-end racers.

Sorry, but i think that you are flying too high. With your models you are flying too high on a too low level.

    Calme toi !

    End.

Is your complaint about 'foilification' or 'Dougification' of the forum? There are and will be plenty of designs without lifting foils. Doug, on the other hand seems destined to be an ever growing proportion of posts.

What the man is so delicately trying to say Doug is that your a pest who invades interesting threads with your endless photos of a model that flew for a few seconds years ago.
Pogo just do what everybody else does and block him.

It's annoying to have a few members that continuously hi-jack threads.

Specifically about foils, was it satisfactory to create a thread that specified 'no foiling'? My impression is that it was respected and achieved the goal.

To AdHoc's point, posts will be greater in size and number, from those with more time and inclination -not from those with greater qualification and better things to do. It's just a fact of open blogs, and admins can not be expected to work to reduce the size of their visits.

To be honest, when I see professionals spending far greater effort abusing those who seek answers than it would take to answer the question, I am not above baiting the answer.

I have been thinking that I should curate the valuable answers from several treads or start a site dedicated to small naturally powered craft. The response here is always 'don't do it'.

I see that a lot of threads are dead ending ---after being foilificated.
I see that a lot of users are impressed and blocked by " expert's " knowlegde about foils.
A "lower level discussion" between newbies and experienced sailers / builders/designers about more conventional , or even simpler boats would be in my opinion much more effective. Why should we reach for the stars, when reaching for the sky is satisfying ? Too often a fructual discussion is stopped with those famous words " have you ever thougt about foils ?" , afterwards all these wellknown pix and sketches and theories, theoretical model boat facts.....
    Models and theories.
    Far away from reality.

Man ! A man ain't no man, when a man ain't got no REAL boat , man !

There is no revolution. There are some " dangerous" high end offshore /coastal racers for very professional and alert crews and very few complex, unaffordable , unproven coastal/ inshore racers.
The " idea" is not the solution ! The " idea" is not the revolution !
And, there a a lot of posts about models ;)

    pogo

    P.S.
The " idea" of GRP .....
it took about 30 years to become a revolution into production; into mass-production for folks.
And, it's breakthru has not been promoted by articles about " models". Just " practice makes perfect" .
Here we are !!!! Here all experienced designers , builders and amateurs are.

Where are, no , where end those experienced model builders ?

    Doug,
you are welcome in the real world.
