You going to use this foam with epoxy or polyester, glass or graphite?

If you are going to have a board why would you need a laminate?

    What the heck?

Perhaps I miss the total point?

Well there wasn't much to explain the post, that was my comment.

Very arcane, the preserve of "egg-heads".

Hey, something I can make a contribution towards. :)

Stack Exchange is a large group of question and answer bulletin boards/forums that (mostly) cater to software engineers. They regularly attempt to add new groups and decide to or not based on how many users 'commit' to use it.

OpenFoam looks like a set of software libraries for computational fluid dynamics.

So, if you were looking for a solution to a problem you were having with that software you could post to the StackExchange board and most likely get help.

Probably because there are at least a few egg-head designers on this board, pS thought they might be interested.

I am sure a lot saw the heading and immediately thought of an open-cell plastic foam.

Perhaps phil Sweet has not been explained well in English ?. It would be unforgivable for someone like him. In any case, his post has a link that is very enlightening.

This is an interesting example of how one's cultural and educational background can alter his perception. :D
When I read "open foam" my first thought was http://www.openfoam.com/
I would hardly arrive to link it to open-cell foams for composite structures, unless someone explicitly told me to look in that direction.

That said, I am not quite getting their intentions. What is the Area51? Are they trying to set-up some sort of online OpenFoam solver (that would be very interesting, if they manage to provide a good GUI and mesher for the software) and are in the process of estimating the probable size of the user base, or what?

Wrong, I'm afraid; he wrote "Open Foam" with capital O and F, which tells what he is aiming at; it is a name identifying an open source CFD software.

Yes, that's what I interpreted from the beginning. So, not being an expert in the nuances of this language, I was surprised to confusion, because for me there was no doubt. In case of doubt, only need to open the link.

Look at the headline of this thread: "open foam" with lower case o and lower case f.
