Someone in our group commented that the pearl in there was more valuable than the boat, so they took the pearl and abandoned the boat in the yard.

What caused the tragedy according to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is that centre of gravity of the ship was to high.
In the picture above one can see the fly bridges which certainly raised the centre of gravity.

Here are some other ships that I always wonder about that they don't capsize.

What I understood is that these vessels reclaim their stability from their planning surface.

I bet there are people in Washington DC who think that if Rome of the Caesars had only had fiat currency the empire would still be around today.

No chance, the Romans had a lot of lead plumbing,so they went crazy.
What are we doing wrong now.

    This is not a joke.

About lead plumbing ... back during the late 80's an article I read discussed that the plumbing in most of the old federal buildings in DC had worn down to the lead pipes themselves.

At the time I humorously observed that this was possibly why folks went to Washington and soon went crazy.

Of course, about that time someone drew the Jetsons in their flying car on the Engineering departments break/computer room and I drew the alien, from the Alien movie, chasing after merrily singing "Eat George Jetson!"

What can I say: I'm demented.
