Stephen I don't know if our views are so close together.
The children drowning in the sea where put in those "boats" by..... their parents so I think the first responsability is with the parents.
The only thing that can be done is to scare the "refugees" away from a sea crossing so much that they decide to stay on shore, in Turkey or in their own country......

So western stock markets crash, banks collapse and we go into mega recession. Suddenly 2 million refugees all look at each other and say 'Come on, lets go home'. Every cruise liner out there will be pressed into service to take them back again, just you wait.

Those who created these cesspits ususally travel in style. First class of a Boeing and they go to Bora-Bora and not from Turkey to Europe in a rubber dinghy...
I might be terribly wrong on this but I think that those responsible for tourists and invaders to overrun your country where voted in place by....New Zealanders, not by the tourists or invaders.
The a##hole who created the Brussels muslim ghetto in my country was also voted in place by Belgian voters.

But I guess you're right, I probably worry too much over too little.

No, but it might force Turkey to take their responsability instead of transferring the problem to Europe.

It is all very sad. The boats leave from Turkey coast and sunk on purpose so they can be rescued from the Hellenic coast guard so they get legal status and apply for asylum in EU. They can't really apply for asylum in Turkey and go to EU and wait for the answer because they can't prove that their life is in danger while they are in Turkey. Some turkish take advantage of them, and collect money to put them on boats and to sink them while there is an other smaller boat to collect the Turkish captain to go back to Turkish shore.
The refugees are been taken advantage. What I don't get it is : Why the men don't stand a fight, and second why they don't go to Arab countries where they would be absorbed easier in a familiar culture

Arab countries don't offer First World welfare to refugees. Not sure they offer anything except further exploitation.

I don't blame the people for trying it on. In their situation, I probably would too. Doesn't mean we have to let them, though.

The First World is being gamed by people exploiting the provisions of a 60+ year old treaty. Time to revisit the treaty.

I don't get that either.....sitting behind my computer.
The Nazi's kept 10.000's of people in a camp with 100 armed guards and only had 2 major problems during WWII, Sobibor escape and the Warshau Ghetto uprise. Guess that nobody like to take the first bullet to save the others...

Only the very rich Arab countries have no "refugee" problem, others like Jordan have a major problem with the overflow of Syrian immigrants.

Since it's obvious that Stephen likely will not get an answer on his question about refugee boat safety, it might be better to stop this thread before it get's too political....if it allready hasn't.

Well if there is a Nato plan hopefully it includes known people smugglers disappearing in the night.

No worries, nobody of the refugees has the intention to stay in Greece, Greece is just a transit station.
Perhaps Greece can ask the EEC for another couple of billion Euro's on top of the billions and billions they have "loaned" allready:D
EEC have the intention to give 3 billion Euro to Turkey so why not, playing Santa with taxpayers money seems fun LOL !!

That would be a clever move from Turkey, invade Greece and leave the backyard open to the Kurds.......don't think so.
