At least from these fish one will be sufficient food for the rest of the journey.

I suppose they catched it as they keep the feet on the gas pedal... still living the spirit of racing.

Francis talkes about 11 meter waves they are expecting....

    Breaking the old record....

IDEC showed good performance over last 2 days actually sailing at >30 knots speed.... and the team around Francis Joyon is straight on the track to beat the "old record" of their own boat known as Grouparma with skipper Franck Cammas which was set in 2010. It would be great if they can crack the 48 hours time line.

Interesting to see that both competitors came very closely over last 24 hours. Actually SD2 is sailing only 120 nm Eastern of IDEC. See attachment. Most impressive IDEC actually is sailing 99.7% VMG, nearby the perfect course to target. One cant do a better navigation.

Might become an interesting finish. IDEC has a distance of ~1020 nm to target point Quessant while SD2 has ~930 nm to sail.

It seems under the given conditions IDEC can go 2 knots higher speed in peak (something around 33-35 knots in maximum) and equally speed over last 24 hours (SD2: 26.4 knts (634.2 nm distance) / IDEC: 26.3 knts (632 nm distance)). I'd like to estimate that they come very close to SD2 overstepping the finish line 2-3 hours behind the bigger Trimaran (roughly 60 nm distance).

Bravo and congrats to the whole SD2 team. The team owner Dona B. already expressed in a very personally note her thank's to all the crew members individually. Very moving her thoughts which make clear: The biggest of such an adventure is to share it and make it possible with outstanding personalities. The success of such a record attempt is excellently team work.

To read here Dona's note in ENG:"I would like to dedicate this final on-board message to my crewmates" - http://www.bit.ly/1mHB1l5

IDEC is to be expected ver ysoon, too next 1-2 hours (around 05:00 pm UTC), roughly 30-40 nm away from finish line now at a speed of 28.8 kts (VMG). Pitty they will cross the finish line after sunset (for Brest its 04:43 pm UTC) so I suppose we wont get some brightfully pictures of the Red giant.

The guys and Francis JOyon had luck as they hit last night an undefined floating object and lost the port rudder. Luckily they can keep up the speed of ~30 knots steering with the central rudder. Families and friends are waiting already in Brest...
