    I'm afraid common sense is not in the RCD but the need of it is just like in the old days and is what everyone needs besides the official directives because they simply exclude the bad things that do happen in real life . . :idea:

    The below quote from post #28 means that according to EU directives yacht designs in the highest category not need to bother with more than Beaufort force 9 winds since 10 means storm . . . :rolleyes:

    On the formal side, the boat should survive in such extreme conditions, which means that it could be damaged as result of such exposure, but still provide support for the crew. Lighter conditions should be experienced by craft without damage. This is the logics behind the Standards.

    OK, thanks Alik, I think to know the logics behind the Standards is the common sense we need here . . . :idea:

    BTW, in Dutch the EU has different standards as in English since the official EU text in Dutch literally says the same as in English, but in Dutch Beaufort wind force 9 already means storm, so the EU translators should do a better job there . . :cool:
