    O-yachts

Interesting new design just brought to my attention today.

Includes a wave piercing central nacelle, and a aft-mast option as I have championed for quite some time.

Will have to give this a closer inspection real soon.

I must confess. I don't understand this rig.

We have three jibs in rapid succession, with their stays mear feet if not inches from each other.

I imagine only one jib is used at a time.

If so, what happens to the other two jib stays?

Are they both disconnected, while the outer one is being used?

If so, I don' find that very convenient--espcially on a multihull that can capsize.

Imagine having to go forward on a pitching deck to connect the inner most one, just as the weather starts to get nasty.

Haven't had a chance to read their site (Thanksgiving and all), but I can well image they don't intend to sail her that way,...probably just an illustration to show the various options.

Aft mast as championed by you?

    Thats funny.

    Mast stepped around 50% LOA.

Just because masts are being stepped close to where Crowther and Simpson stepped them for years doesn't make it your idea.

The only reason designers started stepping them way up forward and turning the fore triangle into a WAFTAM was to get a larger saloon, nothing to do with improved sailing qualities.

No, it is nothing like the Prout "Minsail" rig.

    Barra,
by saying that, it is obvious you have not been around long enough and that you have not done your research.
Brian has been proposing that for decades.

It has been a long time ...too long ;)

In 1974 and !975 I had several articles published in the magazines....pre internet.
    Multihulls and Yachting

    Rudder

That probably means I started on the idea several years before that.

I was searching thru Chris White's website today looking for something else, and ran into some interesting observations by some EXPERIENCED ocean sailing multihullers.

Comments from Atlantic Cat owners and other very experienced sailors on sailing in squalls and strong winds

Interesting, their deployment of mainsails and jibs. One quote in particular:

I would say yes Brendan. Have you seen it sail, or talked to the owner?

Regrettably my website is VERY dated,...much more on the various forums.
