Don't blame Robert Chesebrough for this Vasa leaning too much. :p

Over the past couple of days I managed to steal enough time to get back on the build and fill in the worst of those damaged areas as a result of the overly aggressive removal of the factory installed rubbing strakes. You can see one side required more filling than the other as a result of using the air chisel verses hammer and wood chisel. After a somewhat tricky learning curve i have developed a technique of removing the strakes that results in very little shock damage to the hulls outer FRP laminates. My next work will involve a rough sanding to level and shape the filler in prep for the keel to hull glassing.

Thanks Hoyt, Man it's been a battle, as you well know houses take priority over boats. Somewhere along the way we lost the art of sleeping under our canoes.

Hoyt you passed part of that curse on to me. I just picked up what I classify as my fill in boat. Construction on the Nancy G was not on schedule and with all the honey do work it will never get back on schedule so I thought it best I buy something to get me back on the water for the short term. A couple of weeks ago I became the owner of a Paceship Arcadian Yawl. It requires a little fixin which I will do over the winter and put in the water next season. This means a shut down on the N.G. build project for about 6 months. Meanwhile within the next month or so I will start a separate thread on the Paceship. One house two boats -- who said we leard with age :D

I thought you were all done with the Nancy G. I mean my Grandfather was slow, but he
    was really old.

Speaking of slow, did you ever fix the end of your ramp? Do I need to come back up there to do some undocumented work? :?:

No I'm going to finish it if it kills me, which it probably will but meanwhile i have a sailing fallback. Actually the Paceship other than a good seaboat is an interesting piece of Nova Scotia history which i will post on a new thread shortly. The N.G. is a personal project that is suppose to be my swan song so it has to be completed if nothing else just to check out PARS calculations, take him sailing and get him sea sick :p

Hoyt, I've finally got your Canadian Green Card. Six months ago they asked me to sponsor you to speed up the process but I really wanted to delay that action as illegal immigrants tend to work harder to stay in the country. Alas I could delay no longer as it was sign or cancell. So all is in order and waiting for your arrival to work at the Shad Bay Ship Yards. :D

There aren't any illegal immigrants in the USA. Just new voters! :D

Yo, How is your boat project progressing, hopefully a little faster than mine :D I was getting worried I might never live long enough to get the N.G. project into the water so picked up a more complete boat in the interim which has taken the pressure off and work on the N.G. project more pleasurable. Something I should have done 5 years ago. I have about a months work on the N.G. (Install the ballast) (scheduled for Nov.)before moving her out of the shop to make room for the Paceship refit for spring launching. More of a check over of all the systems than a re build as she was sailed last two years ago. For the next two months house maintenance and life's chores take priority --:(

So.... can I have your controllable pitch prop, then? I'm thinking I'll start a collection of them.

Boat work here in the southern hemisphere has resumed after my winter break. Unfortunately I also brought home a new antique cylindrical grinder that is in process of renovation. I have a terminal weakness for machine tools.

PW how did you know I had a CPP here, you got one of those funny looking little spy camera equipped quadracopters hovering in the third dimension. :D As a matter of fact Scunthorp (John) and I just removed the old Volvo MD7A /Combi from his boat and replacing it with a new Beta 14/shaft/prop standard set up. The Volvo is still in excellent shape but the Combi set up was jamming in reverse. He has it all up for sale but no takers so far. That old Volvo is sure one heavy piece of kit for it's size thanks to that big old flywheel. Man I'd like to live closer to you with all that machining gear combined with my woodworking shop/gear we could build some wonderful and weird contraptions maybe even a custom Morgan
