latest photos of my project.I may have to add trim tab/tanks at transom to get stern draft down and compensate for mid engine weight

how do you plan on getting power to wheels from engine, and how big an engine?

I've always thought that Harley-Davidson belt drive gear could be used to get power over the side without any through-holes in the hull, and it should be OK in water.

what ratio of land VS water is the design intent?

but what about the drive to the (I'm assuming only rear) wheels?

PS-see my gallery for my motorcycle/pwc concept.

The rear drive axle is in the photos squidly. If it was me i would put an outboard on the back and just use the v8 for the road. It is a great project. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

    Hi Rick

Still go the tiger by the tail I see.

Its a good learning lesson on what not to do and can see one way or another you will complete the project like you have the modification of other vehicles you have turned into a work of art.

    Leaks/seals

the rear axles are live, (independent style) the differential center section( Cadillac suv) has a fabricated sealed tunnel with boots ,the live axles have stuffing boxes(like inboard shaft seal) and are also rubber booted to tunnels like power rack and pinion style Also the tunnels can be pumped with low pressure air to hold water out. same for power steering rack

It must be terribly frustrating for people interested in boats and such like and not being able to get stuck in and build something different for you self.

the best part is taking them apart and turning them into something else.

Most of the great inventions were not built by the inventors but by clever helpers that had practical skills.

Tom; I am that far along on my BIG IDEA that i would find it hard to retreat. I know what it takes ,from past builds. I have a long way to go to see this out. creating something and solving problems, with GREAT EXPECTATIONS??

I wasn't making a prediction - just considering the downsides based on experience with trying to waterproof complex machinery. Stuffing boxes and boots can be problematic.

But while we are on the topic, have you planned to stick enough flotation in to give positive buoyancy - at least during initial testing?
