Any one know the height of the masts and the sail area?
And the draft of the hull, minus the keel?

Oh wait, is there even a keel for sailing?

Those masts look fancy, but short for the length.

What is the purpose of the forward leaning birds beak on the top of each mast?

I think they've completed the The-Original-Road-Kill-Cookbook course in residence.

Actually, I think we all need to get out a little more.:D

We could have some fun with this - I mean more fun with this - we could post sketches of what other designers might have done - Frank Lloyd Wright, Antoni Gaudi, Walt Disney, Dyson, Galileo, Fuller.

I think Wright's might have been similar, but the hatches and passerelles would have been way cooler. Plus Prairie Style portlights, naturally.

Oh, I don't know about hating the rich, but I don't see a lot to admire in Russian oligarchs and Middle East oil sheikhs splurging on status symbols.

Well Alan you could address the actual questions if you have any information. At least your part would not be catering to the pissing contest.

I was trying to be kind earlier; but, at that angle it does look like someone left the lid up.

I fully agree. Before, we saw some sort unpleasant primitivism of shapes in Strack designs, but on this new 'A Sailboat' large flat superstructure surfaces seem to be extremely bulky, especially at close look.

    And those repeated oval windows!

I know one of the guys who worked on these masts. As I understand it from him, the main mast is a little over 100 meters total length and weighs around a little over 40 tonnes. Fortunately when they got the things loaded, there was a kind weather window - a big stick to have swaying in the wind from a crane...;)

As for the design, I'm a little undecided, I think I'd need to see it in the flesh. Certainly has more than a hint of a pirate ship mixed in with modernism. Hope it's a bit more practical than the iconic Starck lemon squeezer (in aluminium so attacked by citric acid,,), though he and his team have done some quite nice work. Ages ago I went to an exhibition at the Design Museum (London) which was quite inventive even as a show. Quite enjoyed it.

This seems to be the most logical analysis. The Daily Mail writes about bomb-proof glass and 40 cameras on the outside. So it is a swimming bunker with sails.

    Could be just paranoia.
It is difficult to put yourself in a billionaire's shoes.
