In the US Coast Guard, boarding officers encounter unclad girls on boats frequently. Usually it's just no top, but occasionally it's completely nude. Boats seem to influence girls to take their clothes off. Maybe that's why we men like boats so much.

Of course it would be decent to put some clothes on when the boat is boarded by the Coast Guard, but are there any regulations about minimum clothing on board a boat in US waters . . .

Actually no. There are no Federal nudity laws. That is why some nude beaches are on National Seashores. There may be local or state laws. If a local or state cop is along for the ride you could get cited by them but not by the Coast Guard.

PS: Of course if the boarding officer is a women she will probably tell them to put something on. (I know that sounds sexist) And these days all this stuff is being recorded on video so the boarding officer will probably tell them it's being recorded.

The above was posted as a broken link, copying and pasting a shortened depicted link from the text in a post does not work, better use the quote button or copy paste the complete URL.

I've restored the link in above quote as it was posted in post #5, the link works fine for me now, but your right it's the 2008 version and out of date.

Found here a lot of info for Canada, check the links on the right of the top picture, which changes the top picture and the info below it.

First one leads to the Canadian Safe Boating Guide 2014 (PDF), which seems to be the latest at present.

A job where you have to board a boat with naked women reminds me of a job I used to have.

I had to dress female models for fashion parade.
The money wasn't good only $500 a week.
But that was all I could afford.

    Boom boom.

What Ike said is literally true, but may give the wrong impression. There are federal obscenity laws (nudity is not de facto obscenity, but it sure makes it a lot easier). There are many persons, including Fed Govt employees, with the right to impose and enforce anti nudity regulations. This can get downright confusing when there are up to a dozen federal, state, and local agencies with some sort of enforcement authority over a particular spot of land or water. You have to check them all. I spent two years trying to assemble a complete list of the nudity and firearms regs that applied to one USFS campground and it's immediate surroundings. Then I asked the District Ranger to write a Forest Letter spelling it all out in one place and to refine borders to provide an adequate buffer zone. Nudity is generally prohibited in DEVELOPED RECREATION SITES on federal property unless otherwise posted.

Yeah went from Coast Guard to bikinis and then nudity. But what happens if they find you with an active piston rod in the bilge?

If it's a decked boat I would consider the bilge a private place, however if it's also a centerboarder the rattling of the board would tell what's going on, at least to the other shipmates . . .

Phil is right, but I was only talking about if the Coast Guard boards. On other Federally owned lands such as National Forests, recreation areas etc, they may enforce local laws in cooperation with the local or state authorities. So as he said don't just assume. It may expose your assets to the wrong person.

Sex on a boat? Who woulda thunk it! LOL

From what I heard I thought "Your hands in the air" would have been the right answer...

...but after reading this thread it reveals that the coast guard are actually lured to these boats. Even get to film it to brag to their buddies later ;)

Pretty soon you are going to be penalized if you had them board your boat for nothing !

Ike, you hit the nail on the head. Metaphorically speaking of course.

I think they like ALL the girls Gonzo :D

Who was it once said screwing around on a boat is as much fun as screwing around in a boat. Something like that.

In reality it's a shame that unjust activities of many force everyone to be filmed and checked and constantly harassed :(
