Over the last 18 years I have lived 9 in China I have seen the locals ways change as an example when first rented my apartment on the beach front over 8 years ago fire works was a daily event, especially just before the small fishing boats would leave the jetty early hours that would let fire works off on the deck of boat as the chugged out to sea.
One may imagine how unsettling for a westerner getting woken up at 3am in the morning with huge fired works out side your window, including skyrockets that exploded just after leaving the ground that shake the building.
In the city near by the government would have trucks on new year and throw large strings of fire works onto the streets as the drove around town.

The picture below with my son Myark shows out side our apartment door as an example of after new year day as the whole village went crazy for 24 hours none stop and the smoke from the fire works that created a large cloud like heavy smog over the complete village.
It sounded and looked like a full on battle war zone which was actually the battle of who has the best, loudest and longest fire works display

Now a days it is rare to hear fire works.

 

This afternoon I took the pictures of the barges which are a stone throw away from my apartment building.
I watched them make several of theses barges on the side of the street in a couple of days which are a simple steel angle structure welded with out welding helmets as they look away when they weld.
When the frames are made they send away to get galvanized then chilly bin type foam blocks are placed into plastic bags and then fitted between the angle structures.
On the out sides light flotation rubber is placed so foam does not damage when banging against jetty or other barges.

Theses barges are used by a company that is farming oysters which the huge farm is hundreds' of acres just of shore in front of my apartment.

Pictures I took of two trucks unloading ousters on barges as I walked past this morning.

The ousters have been removed from shells and the empty shells are actually going back into the sea which I presume to grow more ousters from.

 

Fall is when you find all the deals....

 

Thanks for the info, didn't know about oyster empty shell recycling, but it seems to be increasing, I'm surprised by the scale of it in your pictures, didn't expect that of China, obviously my bad . . .

BTW, quite modern truck and phone in the third pic, too bad the below happens at the same time in the same streets . . .

 

Remarkable building techniques, I'm afraid looking away when welding doesn't prevent the skin of their faces from getting burnt by the UV radiation . . .

 

This is a boy my wife and I took into or home which after 7 months found a modern orphanage to place the boy which was after I went and saw the director of the Shenzhen social welfare complaining to do so as I had to travel to another country.

The boy had mental health problems and could not talk or act human so he is no worth to any body who could of helped him.

An associate said to me when saw the boy in the middle of the road blocking traffic with a huge crowd watching his behavior in amassment said why does not any body help him.

I said I am some body and called a taxi but the taxi would not let the boy in car and opened his boot to place him inside, so I argued with taxi and paid him extra money and placed the boy on me knee as I sat in the taxi.

 

Obviously one rough divorce.

 

Good thing you helped the boy and took care of him, the crowd only watching reminds me of the horrible death of Wang Yue in 2011 . . .

 

The death of Wang Yue reminds me of Cambodia where there are two large casinos on each side of road two minutes walk away from the Cambodian Thailand border.
I have not been to Cambodia for a while but when I did on several occasions I left with tears in my eyes of the poverty especially the children.
I walked into the Casino for curiosity and money thousands of $ was more or less been flushed down the toilet, but when the greedy tourist walked out of Casino, not one gave a cent or took any notice of the desperately poor out side who many older had missing arms and legs and some had severe burns that they are unrecognizable.
I have not much money but each time organize a large bag of coins as we cross the border next to the casinos which my wife organized the children to line up as we gave the coins away.

 

It can be a terrible world at times. Thanks to everyone for making even the smallest effort to improve the lot of those less fortunate than ourselves.
