Unique International DT466 Marine diesel??

    International DT466 Marine diesel..need help..!

    Newbie in the house...!!.. I just scored a pair of unique looking International DT466 marine diesel with twin disc mg506 transmissions on them. This things are monsters. Got them at an estate auction sale. But little or no info on them. They both look good and from what i gather was running before they where pulled out. Only issue is that one of them is missing a water cooled manifold and entire turbo system. Anyone seen or have more info on this engines Or where to get parts pls??.. Cant wait to put them to good use one way or another...:D!!
    Any info will be appreciated...

    International Harvester is now known as Navistar, Inc.

    If you want more info on these engines and where to get parts, etc.,
    just Google "International DT466 engine". You'll get plenty of hits.

    Oh trust me i have looked up all the info i can find on the DT466 Engine on the internet but havent been able to find any actual marinized one..plenty of talk about it but not actually seen one.. I am starting to think it could be some kinda custom job, It does come with some high end upgrades. It would be nice to know if i could get parts for the other one that is missing some part without having to custom build..

    Maybe 10 years ago I found and was in contact with a company that specialized in marinizing (or providing kits for marinizing) some of the IH diesels; I was interested in the possibilities for the ubiquitous 6.9/7.3 light truck engine at the time. I'll see if I can still dig that up...

    Marinized DT466

    Few obvious ones
    Big Holset HX40M turbo
    Jabsco 17360 engine cooling pump.
    Bosch Model100-6A-100A series injector pump
    Balmar alternator.
    Custom oil pan.
    I also think the starter is bigger than normal....
    like i said...am kinda a newbie to this and maybe this is common on a marinized engine..

    google Mesa Marine , they should have a new exhaust manifold.

    Many of these engines are in lobster boats with keel cooling and dry stack.

    The DT 466 is a better engine than the same size Cummins and way less expensive , to purchase used out of a school bus that crashed.

    10,000- 20,000 miles about $2500 US

    Yeah i have checked out Mesa Marine. They do have a pretty impressive inventory on their site but i dont see anything close to the set up the other motor. But am sure they could make something that could work. I Just dont want to spend much on them since i dont exactly have immediately plans for them. Also i am kinda starting to wonder how much i could get for the pair if i decided to sell as it is. .any idea?? May have to come up with a plan sometime soon. wifey not exactly too impressed with my new impulsive buy..lol

    Possible Worth??

    I have had this pair of marinized DT466 sitting on my dually for almost a year now. I was going to use them for a project oversea but the project fell through. Now i think it time to let them go to someone who could find a befitting home and use for them. Am wondering how much they could be worth. I bought them at a liquidation estate sale and Previous owner claims both engine was running perfect before the got pulled due to an upgrade. I personally never got around to cranking them to confirm.
    Rough spec.
    Pair DT499 with Twin Disc MG506 transmission
    Big Holset HX40M turbo
    Jabsco 17360 engine cooling pump.
    Bosch Model100-6A-100A series manual injector pump
    Balmar alternator.
    Oversize custom steel oil pan.
    Many more goodies.
    One is missing the turbo, heat exchanger, manifold cooler and some piping.
    The other one is complete
    Anyone who can give me a reasonable possible selling price and best way to list them will be appreciated. I badly need to get them off the back of my truck ASAP.
