Thanks for letting us know. I've ordered a copy of both volumes. It will be interesting to compare to Faltinsen's Hydrodynamics of High-Speed Marine Vehicles, Blount's Performance by Design, Hydrodynamics for High-Speed Vessels and your (McKesson's) The Practical Design of Advanced Marine Vehicles. The latter three books differ significantly from each other in a manner which is complementary.

Also interesting to note that Faltinsen's book, the oldest one which was first published in 2005, is the only one published by a traditional academic publisher. Arguably "self-publishing" is making more information available.

    And not forgetting:-

"Ship Resistance & Propulsion - Practical Estimate of Ship Propulsive Power" By Molland, Hudson & Turnock. CUP.

    Been reading it

I just received my copy today, and I find I can't put it down. I'm only 10% of the way through but the work is outstanding. It is very comprehensive, but also very readable. The insights are profound and thought provoking.

Delighted to have it in my library!

I'm going to make sure I have my copies in hand before the FAST conference so I can impose on Lawry for a book signing. ;)

Lawry's book covers a wider range of vessels and conditions (e.g. unsteady
flow, ship motions) than Faltinsen's, and it has more mathematical and
numerical analysis, as well as a lot more comparisons with experiments. Some
of the wave pattern graphics are very attractive. ;)

That's way too nerdy, even for me.

Some mathematicians need to get up to speed to appreciate engineer's "jokes".

Engineers do not joke. We have no sense of humor.

ProTip: A book about cannibalism reported in Reader's Digest is funny.

It's certainly a beautiful, classic, collection, David!
For mine, though, I prefer the later colour collections
such as those in "The Gallery of Fluid Motion" organised
    by the American Physical Society.

Does he cover surface-piercing props? Slightly or extensively? The book is pricy.
