    Hi all.
Has anyone built or designed a trimaran 20ft-40ft where the amas can slide FORE and AFT? Think of the possibilities:
Slide the amas aft in the harbour or when stationary or while just cruising slowly, this will create lots of extra buoyancy for a much bigger cockpit than usual.
Slide the amas forward for extra buoyancy in the bows for sailing downwind fast, this should help with the problem of burrowing (pitch-poling)
Or keep amas in normal position for normal sailing
A fast trimaran with a BIG cockpit extended towards the amas sounds like a great idea to me (party platform that can sail fast)
This could be low-tech where adjustments are made while boat is stationary or hi-tech where adjustments are possible while sailing fast. Whether this will be allowed while racing is another question.

What's your thoughts on this concept?

Sliding one forward and the other back is another option !

A trimaran using CCC (Claude-Chappe-Concept) should be named

    "Semaphore"

both amas forward means " too much wind"

port ama forward , mainhull and STB ama side by side means " today little STB wind only"

all three side by side means " no wind"

both amas back means " party"

one ama fwd, other back means " hangover"
