    Hi,
Our boat has been in our family from 1984. My Dad lived in Lake Shasta area for many years so it was natural to have a boat. I still keep in contact with the first owner.

I removed the bow fuel tank and installed 2 17 gal each side tanks mid way. It Gives the boat a much better ride and I can carry a bit more fuel. I changed the interior a few years ago. I may again change the interior to some buckets seats up front and a bench seat and a total engine cover like what you see on the Schiadas boats.

A few years ago I found the boat was under driven from the v-drive. I was running a huge prop and didn't have much top in... I have pulled 10 single skiers with this set up... I wanted top in so I flipped the v-drive unit over and changed the prop to a much smaller stainless 3 blade. I now pull slower out of the hole and can run at 60mph at 4800rpm at Havasu.
Please send a few pic's of your project. !
    Eric

Eric, did you open it up and flip the gear set? Ours has the same problem, tons of low end but runs off the top. I'm also doing the saddle tanks. I plan on some trim tabs too. I have a few sets of K planes that will be overkill but should work. This thing flops up onto the bow and stops accelerating.

Does anyone know the value of a 56 Arena Craft Barracuda. Runs great, body in great condition?

I can send them to an email. It won't let me upload them to this site for some reason. Probably operator failure.

So great to see Kit chime in! We had the gold 21' Dan Arena with a Chevy 350 and v-drive. I learned how to ski behind it in the 70's. We bought it a couple of years old from John Ermin. He contacted many years later, and we sold it back to him. Worst thing I ever did.... I would love to have our boat back. We owned it for approx. 20 years. The only ones I see for sale are in horrible condition, we'd high just breaks my heart.

Fools Gold is almost done, she should be getting wet this weekend. Just finishing up the final touches. She's come a long way from when we bought her 2 years ago! Here are some before and afters. Replaced rotten transom, stringers, bulkheads ands floors. New gel coat, removed and replaced the bow tank with gunnel tanks, straightened the bottom, installed turn fin, trim tabs, new wiring and gauges, hydraulic steering, built a big snotty Merlin 609. New fresh interior with floor coolers, heater, stereo and some other modern goodies but maintained the classic look.
