A complete rear axle out of a rwd car would work for the drive. Prop shaft connected to the drive flange and drive rollers bolted on in place of wheels. Add a tom kane lift up drive and it should be a good setup.

 

Thanks for that post and good to see a car self-propel car on a pontoon.
I have mentioned on boat design I have more or less an identical model but more advanced and as mentioned several times on Tom Kane’s Pivotal drive threads, Toms pivotal drive is an option I have been working on ever since meeting Tom 20 odd years ago.
That similar cat shape I have designed is folded with built in torsions suspension and wheels that automatically come out of water when unfolded like a garage door in seconds, also I have designed so the front wheels drives like on most cars these days and add a simple system that has an out board leg adapted to the front wheel hubs that the wheels steer the outboard legs which of course you have reverse and several gears forward that also have a lifting system so if hit a sand bank the prop can still have propulsion similar system Toms pivotal drive system that can be adapted to outboard legs.
Attached is a simple folded barge I made some 18 years ago that actually tows open or closed which when its closed all the equipment is locked in a suit case environment however that is an out dated model.
The rollers and the steering system that model you have kindly posted has been designs and used 100 years ago and not new, but it was good to see the latest versions in action which if it was self trailer and folded and of course made for under $10.000 there may be a market.
The model I have designed are heavy duty, weigh 400 KG including the self trailer system, and can float a 3000kg vehicle that is a small modification to the hubs so it can fit any length or width vehicle.

 

I've only seen it from a distance at the time, so the only technical details I know is what I found on the internet and posted above.

The guy has a agricultural contracting business, so I guess he used some mechanical stuff from that fleet to transfers the power on the rolls to thrust of the cat.

The intended use for this Car + Cat is for a recreational house the guy has for rent in the vicinity of Giethoorn, here's the 'carport' of that house . . . .

Again thank you for those pictures as it has given many vision I needed with not having to make a proto type to see it in action which has taken me to the next stage that is marketability “cost”

Some models I will by pass the vehicle propulsions adaption system and add a simple out board, as with the cars weight on top it will not plane even with large HP and a course pitch propeller on a 15hp four stroke for torque to punch through the water.
this options is when car is not on top of the pontoon it can be used as a speed boat as a 15hp out board can easily plane the pontoon.
I can buy reliable 15 hp four strokes factory price in China plus the folding self-trailer pontoon that if made in production could be sold retail price for complete motor and pontoon with built in trailer system for under $10.000.
I look at the future market that will have frequent floods because of the climate changes and sea levels rising, hence the name Myark “Noahs ark” but also an affordable leisure and commercial boat for today’s standards that has options such as sail, or make car amphibious as it’s a good feeling to be able to keep going and no doubling back to pick up boat trailer especially a mobile home that can land on a remote island and then use the pontoon as a speed boat as demonstrated on an early proto type Myark, Youtube movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDfSuAtiVkQ also to have air-condition or heater from car as well as lights suspension window wipers and comfort plus the electronic appliances and luggage space safe and dry.
The advantages of folding the pontoons are narrow on the road and extra width on water place saved garage or sections space and the saving of weight when towing.

The picture Myark folding trailer barge with van on top are roughly the unfolded shape of the new version Myarks and the picture you have sent is much closer.
The pictured Myark size unfolded is 6.m X 3.m

Right, the added info from the PDF is it says those linkages are done by hydraulics.
