    Looks like a C10 to me too though I think the transoms were a bit more vertical so maybe an add on there..... & as for the rough cut & added arrangement to the bridgedeck cabin!!
    The window styling is poor also & the antifoul/boot top line lets it down too, the central nacelle is dragging too & apparently redundant with the outboards mounted aft.
    There maybe a nice boat hidden in there with some effort though......

    Yeah, I like the C10 open deck boats but that one has been so hacked about with.

    I am very curious about the first link though. An 26'X12' bridgedeck cat. It's not a prout ranger.

    Regarding the transoms:

    Has more slope to it, so maybe they brought them in on the 10's later in production ? Assuming the vacationer was a later design ?

    Anyway. I think the yellow boat must be ply, but I can dream :)

    Gday Guzzis

    The first boat is probably a Jim Young cat. He drew a 26 footer which had a clever cabin that gave headroom in the hulls. If it is well cared for it could be a good boat. Don't worry about ply - I don't get the concern over ply if the boat has been well built. Your average Windspeed 32 is foam but can have problems with light laminates and you need may need to spend serious time in the yard with a Lex Nicol foamy. I had a look over a Young 26 in Gosford that was a good boat but sadly abused and this one looks similar.

    The Crowther 10 is the second boat. Very rough but cheap. Could be worth stripping and refitting. although the extra cabin height looks dodgy.

    The third cat is not a Vacationer. Bob Hotchkiss had the moulds for the C10 and widened them to make the Sports Cruiser. I don't think Lock had much to do with it.

    The Vacationer 34 was based on the C10 hulls (just to confuse things there were two types of C10, a narrow one and a wider one Lock designed to better carry weight). Bob Hotchkiss redesigned the boat (looks pretty much like C10 hulls to me) and put a new deck on - voila the Vacationer.

    G'day,

    I reckon the first one is a Jim Young design. And if I didn't know better it has been moored at the Gold Coast for the past few years. If not the same boat it's twin right down to the ugly bridgedeck add on.

    Phil has the breeds spot on there, I've got an old Beach Marine brochure somewhere that represents that. Bob has his own boat listed to the tree at present.

    Ok I'm confused. Not your fault mind, I'm often confused, but could you explain this for the idiot ? The third boat is a sports cruiser by hotchkiss ?

    And the Young 26 is ply ?

    I know all boats can be trouble, even good ol' solid glass can get osmosis etc. I'm just over ply boats that's all...

    I hope to look at the C10 when I'm in sydney in feb if it's still available. I THINK it's actually an open deck with the bridgedeck added. Unfortunately they cut away a big section of the hulls around where the hatches would have been so going back to open is a big job...I'd have to look at the execution of the bridgedeck, along with a LOT of other issues...

    Yes that is one of the later generation, I had one that my wife & I bought as a 9 Meter "PC9", fitted mini keels & added a transom stretch.
    That 9 meter hull deck mold was available as a hull & net/hard deck boat, with a stepped underwing & soft top, with a bridgedeck cabin, further to that the option of Dagger boards or mini keels & also a hull extension aft for the 32'/10m option.... so 3 basic options with another two on top, I think the bridgedeck cabin version also reduced/dropped the underwing clearance to give around an extra 100mm headroom- not really sure on that though.
    The vessel we had proved to be an excellent choice, quite narrow on the waterline & easily driven, it served as our home for nearly two years when first married & very comfy, glass work was by Endeavour Yachts & very neat & tidy. Did some coastal cruising to Whitsundays etc & made a great boat for our home port of Port Hacking(shallow in spots). We could do up to 70 mile days reasonably during daylight but sometimes motorsailed-if boatspeed drops below around 5-6k I'd start the 4/ Yamaha 9.9. There was some pretty clever thought in the design but a bit low on payload, ours had around 40+ lockers, on the delivery after selling her & emptying personal effects etc she really lit up, the new owners are going-Sad for you to be selling this beautiful machine, at later dates they communicated that we had done their families a huge favour in selling it to them, so much fun.
    Even on the demo sail on Botany Bay, an afternoon sail on flat water- one is intent on his hand held GPS & showing 14K.
    Had some great fishing trips off Sydney as well, trolling with just the headsail on hanks, on hook up we'd drop the jib & back up with the 9.9, a great stable platform & I'd also rig the boom fwd with a preventer to get it out of the way

    There was some smaller vessels of similar style-Macro/Micro/Magic range with similar options & also the Adventurer 40 and Islander 35.
    There was center cockpit/console options on the Vacationer model, I think some of these have had bridgedeck accomadation added now.
    The sports cruiser model with the high bow & curved sheer was 10 meters & very roomy wide body hulls, one had a cabin added & the similar styling was apparent on a 44'? & a 47/48'? also
    I think the C10 was also an option at 11 meters too with a stretch in the middle?(but not sure on that), pretty sleek & quick.
    I think the brand copped some unfair criticism from the custom/amateur areas but really way ahead of the pack & 15-20 years early of the current "boom?". Some production cats have really taken backward steps in comparison as windage increases & motor sailing styles are popular now, of course there are notable exceptions & choices now.
    Some of the tooling was lost in bushfires some years back & I think the 44' gone on to create QLD based charter power cat.
